Official Rocky Mountain Rankings: Class of 2028 Is Coming

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The<strong> official</strong> Rocky Mountain Rankings are coming, and we are putting the Class of 2028 back under the scouting lens.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://prepdig.com/2026/06/rocky-mountain-rankings-updated-class-of-2028/" data-type="post" data-id="999336">The last Rocky Mountain Rankings gave an early look at the class.</a> This next update is about taking a closer look at the players in our database and evaluating where their games are now, where they are trending, and what we see translating down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There is a lot more to scouting than counting kills, digs, or assists. Those numbers matter, but they are only part of the picture.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">What We Are Watching</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When we scout a player, we want to know what separates them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Maybe it is an outside who can score from multiple areas of the court. Maybe it is a setter who changes the tempo and keeps blockers guessing. Maybe it is a libero who reads the game early and consistently keeps her team in system.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We are looking for those details.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Athleticism, size, skill level, court awareness, consistency, and decision-making all play a role. We also pay attention to how those tools work together. A player may have one standout skill, but what else can she bring when the game changes?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Future potential matters, too. We are not only evaluating the player we see today. We are looking at the tools that could allow that player to make a jump over the next few years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Rankings Are Built in Tiers</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When we get into a deep class like 2028, the differences between players can become very small. That is why we look at the class in tiers rather than trying to make one giant comparison.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We compare players who are close together and look for what gives one athlete an edge over another. From there, we can start building the order.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Multiple evaluations also come into play. Bringing those evaluations together helps us get a stronger overall read on the class and creates a more complete ranking.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Film + Live Scouting</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Film is a huge part of scouting, but seeing a player in person adds another layer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On film, we can go back and watch the same play. We can look at an approach, a platform, a block, a transition swing, or a setter's decision multiple times. Live scouting, however, lets us see how a player responds when things are not going exactly as planned.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That matters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We want to see how you react after an error. We want to see how you compete when your team is down. We want to see what happens when you are not getting the ball. We want to see whether you adjust when an opponent starts taking away your favorite shot.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Those are scouting moments.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Put Yourself on the Radar</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is why getting your game out there matters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Play high-level competition. Keep your film updated. Make sure your information is current. Give us enough opportunities to see the complete player, not just a handful of great plays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The more we can see, the better we can evaluate.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Class of 2028 has plenty of volleyball left to play, and that means plenty of opportunities for this ranking to change. Players will develop. New strengths will show up.
