More East Highlights from L2's East Vs. West

West tournament has become a must play. This tournament not only puts the best against each other, but puts the best alongside each other. Not only will you compete with your squad, but alongside others to determine 'which side is best', east or west? </p>   <p>In this year's edition, yet again, the East side prevailed victorious with a 13-10 record over the west side. But don't get it twisted, the West is still very much a strong presence with all teams presenting strong showings despite missing some of its best. For the east, the very best were on tap, it would be a tough hill to climb, regardless.</p>   <p>The East side reigned victorious once again with a star studded cast of teams and players. Nearly double the amount of teams, mean double the amount of highlights to cover. Take a look at the 18 highlight players from this weekend's East Vs. West Showdown.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='782372' first='Lindsey' last='Nagel'] - Saline</h2>   <p>This is a team we will be talking about for awhile with its youth at hand. At the setting position, they have [player_tooltip player_id='782372' first='Lindsey' last='Nagel'] who was looking right at home in this field of top notch setters. Nagel has the size and the agility to play the entire game and she was moving the ball around quite well for the Hornets.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='885464' first='Charlotte' last='Keyes'] - Saline</h2>   <p>From one sophomore supreme to the next, when the Hornets can find [player_tooltip player_id='885464' first='Charlotte' last='Keyes'] at ANY given time, things are going well. Keyes, at 6'3, is a tour de force on the court. Whether she is shutting down the opponent's attack or ripping down some balls in the middle, Keyes is the KEY to Saline and their future.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1009098' first='Laura' last='Aubrey'] - Mercy</h2>   <p>When you have a freshman phenom duo like Mercy has, just watch out. [player_tooltip player_id='1009098' first='Laura' last='Aubrey'] has been on a terror lately and continued that kind of play here in Brighton. The 6'0 high flying dynamo is well above the competition when she takes flight. Which ever pin she's attacking on, front row or back row, Aubrey is a CONSTANT and viable threat.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='984451' first='Cate' last='Verkeyn'] - Mercy</h2>   <p>Rounding out that rookie rumbling 1-2 punch for Mercy, [player_tooltip player_id='984451' first='Cate' last='Verkeyn'] slots in as the team's perfect OH2. Again, for these players' youth, it is spectacular to see how high they're playing on the court. While Cate is a consistent scorer for Mercy, it is her reliability in her ball control and defense that stands out the most. She was on point every part of the weekend for Mercy.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='442976' first='Cynthia' last='Ockerman'] - Brighton</h2>   <p>Leave it to the Miss Volleyball nominee in the middle to lead the way for this youthful Brighton squad. [player_tooltip player_id='442976' first='Cynthia' last='Ockerman'] is going out, and she's going out with a bang. At the net, Ockerman continues to be an absolute juggernaut. From her stout block, to her offensive production, Ockerman does so much for this team in her three rotations.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='985540' first='Lucyna' last='Wendt'] - Brighton</h2>   <p>A part of a 2-setter system for Brighton, I was really impressed by this sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='985540' first='Lucyna' last='Wendt']. With her size and her mobility, Wendt could very easily run the show all on her own, but does an incredible job out there in the Bulldog system. She's finding her middles in transition, she's putting up solid balls in out of system and she's looking quite strong.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587564' first='Lexi' last='Coleman'] - South Lyon East</h2>   <p>Maybe one of the most feared attackers in the gym. No matter how many hands you put on her at the net, how good of a set up you have on her in the back court, [player_tooltip player_id='587564' first='Lexi' last='Coleman'] is going to score. She's going to score and it's going to come at you HARD and FAST! It is to no surprise that Coleman is averaging 7 kills per set as she is very much the offensive production for South Lyon East.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan'] - South Lyon East</h2>   <p>A huge part of Coleman's productivity comes from the setting of [player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan']. The two create quite the dynamic duo for South Lyon East that has them rated as one of the top programs in the state. Kiernan, at 6'2, leaves a lot of option out there on the court. Whether you have her running a 5-1 or a 6-2 with her as an attacker, Kiernan's presence gives SLE a myriad of wrinkles to throw out onto the court.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='442980' first='Gabby' last='Lavoie'] - Northville</h2>   <p>If there is anything to know about Northville, it is that they will ALWAYS have a strong DS/L core. At the center of it all this year, it is [player_tooltip player_id='442980' first='Gabby' last='Lavoie']. In the off-colored jersey, Lavoie is really finding her groove and keeping Northville alive in these tight matches. Her defense was solid and her reception was on point all weekend long.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='523832' first='Charley' last='Romeo'] - Northville</h2>   <p>Now, with all that defense, the Mustangs needs a strong, consistent scorer to put away the deal. That is where they look to [player_tooltip player_id='523832' first='Charley' last='Romeo'] to do the business. Romeo was delivering on all fronts this weekend.
