Western Kansas Wonders: Class of 2021

<p>Out in the West Kansas Town of Formoso . . .  I’m no Marty Robbins but that has a nice ring to it.</p> <p>Long distances separate the western towns in Kansas and newspapers are few and far between in this day in age. However, don’t let the sunset on the many talented volleyball players on the Western side of the state.</p> <p>Here is a look at some of the ranked volleyball players in the Class of 2021 rankings, who play their home games west of Salina.</p> <p><strong>MH, [player_tooltip player_id="105518" first="Brynn" last="Boxberger"], 5’9”, Great Bend (Ranked No. 38)</strong> – Boxberger is a talented athlete. Opposing teams should not leave any free balls near the net as she’ll smash them back you. She has long reach and is a solid hitter and blocker.</p> <p><strong>S, [player_tooltip player_id="105520" first="Lauren" last="Gleason"], 5’9”, Dodge City (Ranked No. 40)</strong>– Dodge City lost some experienced players from its 2019 squad, so Gleason will be leaned on by teammates in her senior season. She also plays point guard in basketball. So you could say she likes to be at the center of an offense no matter what the sport.</p> <p><strong>MH, [player_tooltip player_id="105522" first="Sasha" last="Wasinger"], 6’2”, TMP-Hays  (Ranked No. 42) –</strong> Wasinger is highly talented and works hard in the classroom. At 6-foot-2 she is able to b<span style="font-size: 1rem;">e a real threat at the net. She deserves serious looks by NAIA and JUCO recruiters. JUCO might be the best route for her further development before moving on to a DII or DI program.</span></p> <p><strong>O</strong><strong style="font-size: 1rem;">H, [player_tooltip player_id="105537" first="Alissa" last="Heskamp"], 5’5”, Spearville (Ranked No. 57)</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> – Heskamp is a good bet to play basketball at the collegiate level, but her volleyball skill set should garner some college looks as well.
