There were so many athletes with a truly insane amount of potential.
Molly Rohde Molly Rohde 5'11" | MB Hortonville | 2023 State WI – Middle Hitter – Class of 2023 – Hortonville
Molly was easily one of the fastest middle hitters at the showcase. Her speed immediately caught my attention. This makes her incredibly dangerous not only when running plays but also as a blocker. Molly is an overall great athlete who will continue to impress across the next few years and beyond!
Sylvie Zgonc Sylvie Zgonc 5'11" | OH Sussex Hamilton | 2023 State #115 Nation WI – Outside Hitter – Class of 2023 – Sussex-Hamilton
Sylvie came ready to play at the Showcase. Her vertical is insane as is the power she has developed in her swing. She also has a very solid foundation on defense and serve receive. At the rate Sylvie has been improving, she will be an unstoppable all-around athlete in the very near future.
Gwen Crull Gwen Crull 6'2" | MB McFarland | 2023 State WI – Middle Hitter – Class of 2023 – McFarland
Gwen is another very fast middle hitter. And she has a massive jump. Middles with her speed and vertical are invaluable at both the high school and collegiate levels! Gwen is a definite athlete to watch as she continues to develop over the rest of her high school and club career.
Peyton Schmidt – Outside Hitter – Class of 2023 – West Bend East
Peyton is solid in her fundamentals and has a great vertical. She plays well no matter where she is on the court. At the Showcase, it became apparent that she can hit a plethora of shots on the court while also being able to put a ball down. She is also strong on defense and will be a huge asset to any team she is on.
Caroline Harris Caroline Harris 6'0" | OH DSHA | 2024 State WI – Outside Hitter – Class of 2024 – DSHA
Caroline is a great defender. She has good ball control anywhere on the court. She really impressed me in out of system plays and serve receive where she was able to have control on the pass and then explode into an approach with a powerful hit. She also exhibited great ball control on her swings.
Melia Johnson Melia Johnson 6'2" | OH Slinger | 2024 State #140 Nation WI – Middle Hitter – Class of 2024 – Slinger
Melia is a very smart player who knows when to pound a ball and when to place it well on the court. For being an incoming freshman her volleyball IQ is really high. She knows the game well and uses it to her advantage every chance she gets.
Kyleigh Coghlan Kyleigh Coghlan 5'6" | DS/L Kettle Moraine | 2023 State WI – Libero – Class of 2023 – Kettle Moraine
Kyleigh is so smart in the back row. She has great fundamental ball control which makes her incredible in fast or out of system plays. She also isn’t afraid to take an aggressive swing across the net. She reads the ball really well on both defense and serve receive. She will be a player to watch this year!
Ella Ahlstrand – Outside Hitter – Class of 2023 – Plymouth
Ella has an insane vertical that gives her huge advantages on the net. It makes her great at blocking and hitting. When she uses her vertical to her advantage she is nearly unstoppable. She is a fun athlete to watch and will be someone to keep on your radar in the next few years.
Ella Skogman Ella Skogman 6'2" | MB Waukesha West | 2024 State WI – Middle Hitter – Class of 2024 – Waukesha West
When Ella connects with a setter it is truly a sight to see. At 6’2” she has a huge reach. She is a strong blocker and sees the court well. She knows the spots on the court to push a ball for the kill and has a powerful swing to the left, forcing teams out of system.
The Summer Showcase was a great way to see athletes side by side and their potential and skill showed! Now, it will be fun to continue watching these athletes through their upcoming high school and club seasons!
