About Annika

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

I pride myself on my work ethic and leadership, both on and off the court. My focus on every team I’ve ever played on is to do whatever I can to lift up my teammates and lead by example. I fully understand that what makes a great player is just as much about what you do off the court as what you do on it. My goal is and always will be to make the team better.

What are you working to improve right now?

I have committed to weekly private lessons with a former professional volleyball player to improve my overall skill and volleyball IQ; after my high school season ends I am also beginning twice weekly personal training sessions to increase my strength, flexibility, and vertical leap.

What are you looking for in a college program?

My primary focus is on the academic strength of the college.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

I’ve won multiple city-wide awards for my writing, and applied to and was admitted to Austin's Fine Arts Academy for costume design. I then made my 5A high school’s varsity team when I was 13 years old, and made Academic All District as a freshman (as well as Honorable Mention All District). I have recently joined the debate team.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I want to study sociology to better understand the world around me. I have considered journalism, but am open.
