Continue ReadingKandi Elite Volleyball Club is a relatively young club having been competing for just a few years. With a draw of athletes primarily from the west central part of Minnesota, KEVC has found success in developing their athletes on the court and towards opportunities at the next level. Entering into the 2018 season, KEVC will field five teams overall. Their U18-U15 teams are highlighted below.
KEVC’s 18-1 team features a few of the areas best athletes. Leading the way is S/RS Abbey Pederson Abbey Pederson 5'10" | S Canby | 2018 State MN (Canby HS), committed to South Dakota State University. Pederson was also selected as the 2017 Camden Conference south division MVP, to the Minnesota Class A all-state first team, and was named a Ms. Baden Volleyball finalist. Committed to the University of Northwester is setter Karly Fehr Karly Fehr 5'7" | S Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta | 2018 State MN (Morris HS), the West Central Conference 2017 MVP. Northern State commit and Wright Count all-conference selection Kamryn D’Heilly Kamryn D’Heilly 5'11" | MB Annandale | 2018 State MN (Annandale HS) as well as NDSCS commit and Wright County all-conference honorable mention selection Gabby Hahn Gabby Hahn 5'11" | MB Hutchinson | 2018 State MN (Hutchinson HS) will compete at the right side and outside hitter positions respectively. KEVC’s 18-1 team also features two Central Minnesota all-conference outside hitters in Ally Gruber (BBE HS; 1st team) and Skylar Bayer (Paynesville HS; 2nd team). Abby Volk (Willmar HS) and Liz Lansink (Hutchinson HS) will be holding down the middle blocker position. Volk is a 2017 Central Lakes all-conference honorable mention selection. Libero Mia Greenman (Canby HS), a Camden all-conference selection, will lead the defense.
Willmar High School is well represented on the KEVC 17-1 team in middles Grace Marti Grace Marti MB Willmar | 2019 State MN and Sydney Olson Sydney Olson MB Willmar | 2019 State MN , outside hitter Caitlin Ogdahl, and setter Carly Wedel Carly Wedel 6'1" | S Willmar | 2019 State MN , a Central Lakes all-conference selection. Marti was named Central Lakes all-conference honorable mention in 2017. Kendra Hardy (Alexandria HS), another Central Lakes all-conference selection, will play opposite while MACCRAY’s Danni Burns and Piper Asche Piper Asche 6'1" | MB MACCRAY | 2019 State MN will play middle and defensive specialist respectively. Burns and Asche are both 2017 Camden all-conference honorable mention selections. Also competing for KEVC 17-1 are liberos Riley Decker Riley Decker 5'6" | LI Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta | 2019 State MN (Morris HS), the West Central Conferences Most Valuable Defender, and Avery Elferin (RCW HS) as well as outside hitter Morgan Cleveland (Canby HS) and setter/utility Makenna Steffel Makenna Steffel 6'0" | OH BOLD | 2019 State MN (BOLD HS).
Leading the KEVC 16-1 team is libero Abby Stark Abby Stark 5'7" | DS/L Willmar | 2021 State MN , a 2017 Camden all-conference member. She is joined by fellow Willmar HS teammate, middle blocker Reagan Bos. Bold High School’s Makayla Snow Makayla Snow 5'11" | MB BOLD | 2020 State MN is the 2017 West Central Conference’s Most Valuable Setter and will lead the offense. Grace Daak Grace Daak 6'2" | MB Hutchinson | 2020 State MN (Hutchinson HS) is also slated at middle. Playing the outside hitter position will be Camden all-conference selection Brooke Nelson Brooke Nelson 5'8" | S Canby | 2020 State MN (Canby HS), Elizabeth Dille Elizabeth Dille 5'11" | OH Sartell-St. Josephs | 2021 State MN (Sartell HS), and Big South all-conference honorable mention Sydney Sommers Sydney Sommers 5'8" | OH Redwood | 2021 State MN (Redwood Valley HS). Two right side hitters, Bella Gillman (Dassel-Cokato HS) and Lauren Wulf (RCW HS) and a defensive specialist, Sydney Isaacson (Dassel-Cokato HS), round out the roster.
Four Willmar HS athletes are slated to KEVC’s 15-1 team in libero Callie Slagter Callie Slagter 5'6" | DS/L Willmar | 2021 State MN , middle blocker Madelyn Gregory Madelyn Gregory 5'11" | OH Willmar | 2021 State MN , outside hitter Bailey Olson Bailey Olson 5'10" | OH Willmar | 2021 State MN , and right side hitter Sophie Kobienia Sophie Kobienia 6'0" | RS Willmar | 2021 State MN . NLS’s Lydia Larson Lydia Larson 5'9" | S Willmar | 2022 State MN and Ashlyn Olson Ashlyn Olson 6'1" | RS New London-Spicer | 2021 State MN will compete at the setter and right side positions. Aleah Zieske Aleah Zieske 5'10" | OH New London-Spicer | 2021 State MN (RCW HS) and Hannah Jensen Hannah Jensen 5'7" | DS/L New Prague | 2021 State MN (Dassel-Cokato) will play at outside hitter while Canby’s Rachel Harding and Gabby Harding will compete at the setter and middle blocker position respectively.
Look for KEVC to represent the west central area of Minnesota well in 2018. All four teams will kick-off their competitive schedule at the Twin Cities’ Big City Luau the last weekend of January.
