Class 5 District 12 Preview

<p>It is the most wonderful time of the year! Not Christmas...Postseason Volleyball! We are overjoyed the regular season was able to be completed with minimal hiccups across the state! However, we are at this point; Win or Go Home! Let’s take a look at district 12 in Class 4 and 5. These two districts have teams in this writer’s coverage area and some outside of it.  Here we go.</p> <p><strong>Class 5 District 12: (1) Lee’s Summit West (2) Carthage (3) Joplin (4) Raymore-Peculiar - October 28th @ Carthage</strong></p> <p>The Titans of Lee’s Summit West is a contender to get to sectionals year in and year out. They are fresh off a tournament championship and sitting at 16-5 on the year. All-State libero [player_tooltip player_id="41757" first="Aly" last="Gurtiza"] continues to shine defensively and junior [player_tooltip player_id="41813" first="Sydney" last="Handel"] has been productive on the outside. Carthage (14-13-1) is a dangerous team in the district. Any team with a terminal hitter will keep teams on their toes. Sydney Duduski has around 300 kills on the year. The Tigers have played a tough schedule and are battle-tested. The third seed Joplin (15-14-1) is also prepared for post-season with a competitive 2020 season. They have a balanced offensive attack and are being led defensively by Kaylie Anderson’s 286 digs. Ray-Pec (12-18) has shown flashes of being competitive this year. </p> <p>Lee’s Summit West has defeated Ray-Pec in conference play twice this fall. They will do it again in the1st match up. Carthage and Joplin could be a back and forth battle. The arm of Duduski will be the difference maker as Carthage takes down Joplin. In the championship look for Lee’s Summit West to defeat Carthage in a spirited battle. </p>
