<p>Central Hardin pulled away to defeat longtime rival Elizabethtown 3-1 in the 17th District Volleyball Tournament championship match at North Hardin High School on Thursday, Oct. 22. </p>
<p>With the win, Central Hardin improved to 21-1.</p>
<p>Elizabethtown dropped to 13-5 with the loss.</p>
<p>Central Hardin won 18-25, 25-22, 28-26, 26-24 over 17th District counterpart Elizabethtown.</p>
<p>The top performers for Central Hardin were [player_tooltip player_id="68068" first="Kelsey" last="Brangers"] (35 digs, 6 assists, 1 service ace), Addie Atcher (15 kills, 1 block, 4 digs), Lauren Thompson (14 kills, 3 blocks, 2 digs), Lilly Padgett (9 kills, 2 blocks, 8 digs, 4 service aces), Allie Blair (23 assists, 2 digs), Jasmine Carroll (5 kills, 3 blocks, 2 digs), [player_tooltip player_id="104554" first="Lindsey" last="Vest"] (2 kills, 18 assists, 2 digs, 2 service aces), Danielle Nelson (10 digs, 1 assist, 1 service ace) and Alex Mackey (5 kills, 1 dig). </p>
<p>The top performers for Elizabethtown were [player_tooltip player_id="104555" first="Mary" last="Hargan"] (32 kills, 7 blocks, 1 assist, 16 digs, 1 service ace), [player_tooltip player_id="68104" first="Elizabeth" last="Godfrey"] (22 kills, 3 blocks, 3 assists, 18 digs, 5 service aces), Sarah Clark (4 kills, 2 blocks, 27 assists, 5 digs, 1 service ace), Grace Filburn (25 assists, 3 digs), Jenna Smallwood (4 kills, 5 blocks, 2 digs) and Taylor Ray (2 kills, 2 blocks, 3 digs, 3 service aces).</p>
<p>Central Hardin, which owns the best record among 5th Region volleyball teams, defeated Elizabethtown for the second time in the 2020 high school volleyball season. Determined Central Hardin outlasted familiar foe Elizabethtown 3-2 (25-23, 25-27, 17-25, 27-25, 15-11) in an early-season 17th District volleyball match on September 17. </p>
<p>Both Central Hardin and Elizabethtown advance to the 5th Region Volleyball Tournament at John Hardin High School.</p>
