There are three players from the Houston area who have just recently committed to NCAA Division One colleges recently and we would like to share the news. These young ladies have been hard at work during the high school volleyball season and have been also hard at work on the recruiting scene getting offers from schools all over the country.
Alexis Roberson Alexis Roberson 6'4" | MB Ridge Point | 2022 State #163 Nation TX [2022] 6-3 Middle (HS: Ridge Point/Club: Houston Juniors/Verbal: LSU)
Alexis is currently the 15th ranked prospect according to the Prep Dig State Rankings list. We wrote an article on her earlier in the spring and here is a little from it, “As an absolute force in the middle for her very talented Houston Juniors squad, College coaches should definitely take notice of this young lady. She reaches very well to score on quick attacks. Driving her legs into every attack, she unloads a very healthy swing that scores at a great clip. Her club coach Tara Cross-Battle runs her on a variety of sets that include a very potent slide. Her size alone is something to marvel at, but don’t let it fool you. She is exceptionally quick on her feet and this helps her close out on the pin blocks very well.” We are happy to report that she has just recently committed to Louisiana State University. There is not a doubt in my mind that Alexis will be a force that will make an immediate impact on their program. Fran is getting a fantastic young player to keep their winning tradition alive in the SEC.
Oluwalademi Ogunlana Oluwalademi Ogunlana 6'0" | MB Elkins | 2022 State TX 6-0 Middle (HS: Elkins/Club: Houston Juniors/Verbal: Rice)
Lademi is currently the 24th ranked prospect according to the Prep Dig State Rankings list. We wrote an article on her earlier in the spring and here is a little from it, “This swing blocking middle from Houston plays opposite of Alexis Roberson Alexis Roberson 6'4" | MB Ridge Point | 2022 State #163 Nation TX mentioned above and together they wreak havoc on opponents. She has great timing against attackers and showcases her vertical well when penetrating the net. She truly engages her core when attacking on a quick in front of her setter. You can tell that she has been trained well. She uses her long arms to seal the net and just when outside hitters think they have a window to hit into, she closes at the last second. I look forward to watching this young lady grow and get even more dynamic.” We are happy to report that she has just recently committed to Rice University. This hometown acquisition is great for the Owls and she brings so much athleticism to their program for the future.
Avery Shimaitis Avery Shimaitis 5'11" | OH George Ranch | 2022 State #142 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Outside (HS: George Ranch/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Pepperdine)
Avery is currently the 46th ranked prospect according to the Prep Dig State Rankings list. Avery is another dominant player from the Houston area that has a very bright future ahead of her. Here is a little from an article we wrote about her school team: “She is a part of the famed ten foot club as she can get up to 10’2”. Avery is a dominant attacker for her Skyline team and for the Longhorns. She can bang with the best hitters in the area. Avery is a six rotation outside hitter and excels on the court. Her strength is undoubtedly her power. Her upper body is built for the left side. She will be a force for the foreseeable future for a college team. She deserves to be looked at and put on someone’s short list. She’s able to run high powered offense from the back row and she has this awesome and deceptive across her body off-speed cut back shot toward the deep zone one corner from the left side that she scores with. It is extremely deceptive and scores well. She will definitely keep the firepower going this coming year for the George Ranch Longhorns.” She plays for one of the best club teams in her age group in the nation and when you watch her play, you will see why. We are happy to report that she has just recently committed to Pepperdine University. We are excited to watch her grow and get better so she can have an immediate impact in college.
