Recap Class 4 Sectional Standouts: St. Pius Sectional
<p><strong>Teams: Grain Valley, Pembroke Hill, Platte County, St. Pius</strong></p>
<p>This was a very intriguing sectional with a couple of solid storylines. We had Pembroke Hill coming in with an undefeated season. We also had Platte County, who has in years previously played in districts with teams who are all class 5 this season. After coming up short in year’s past, would they get over the hump this season?</p>
<p><strong>Platte County vs. Pembroke Hill</strong></p>
<p>Like a few sectionals around the state, this first-round battle was viewed as the likely championship match. Two teams with many diverse pieces with high-level club players. Platte County would grab the first two sets and look for a sweep but Pembroke Hill would fight back to take the third set. The Pirates would regroup and behind a key serving run by [player_tooltip player_id="41803" first="Kate" last="Brown"] would grab set four and advance. </p>
<p><strong>Grain Valley vs. St. Pius</strong></p>
<p>This match would look like the other match, a close sweep but Pius would etch out a third set win 26-24. Grain Valley would win the 4th set 25-20 to set up a match-up with Platte County.</p>
<p><strong>Platte County vs. Grain Valley</strong></p>
<p>On paper it looked like this would be a competitive match-up and the teams didn’t disappoint. A lot of back and forth with key aces and defense stands. Platte County however would get the sweep and their first appearance to the final four. </p>
