Top Defenders in Each Class

<p> Defense is an essential part of the game that often gets overlooked, but there are several top prospects who cover, read, dive, and pass to make their teammates look good. Here are some of our top defenders (uncommitted):</p>
<p>2021:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="72034" first="Kalleigh" last="Carr"]</strong> /<em> Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (5’6’’ S/DS)</em> - They have been using her to set in their offense but she still is a top defender for the 8-1 team. Season high: 18 digs.</li>
<li><strong>Keely Kurschnet</strong> / <em>Hill Murray - </em>Keely had a great season in 2019 and is showing determination as they fight their way through her senior year. Season high: 23 digs, 3 ace serves.</li>
<li><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/hannah-jensen/Ni7sYGzCEea-8KA2nzwbTA/videos.htm"><strong>Hannah Jenson</strong> </a>/ <em>New Prague</em></li>
<li><strong>Abigail Hinckley</strong> / Chatfield - Averages 6.3 digs per set with season high 19 over state ranked Caledonia</li>

<p>2022:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11643695/5f9b82065ef6b40dbcb075e3"><strong>Kasumi Lee</strong></a> / <em>East Grand Forks -</em> Lee has helped her team fight for their four wins. Season High: 35 digs</li>
<li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="86768" first="Molly" last="Voss"]</strong> /<em> Benilde St Margaret - </em>They really run their whole offense off of the the passing for Voss. She has taken the first ball on serve receive almost 200 times.</li>
<li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="72776" first="Elle" last="Cotton"] </strong>/ <em>Elk River</em> - The 6’ setter can do it all and that includes playing defense in right back. In a recent match with Champlin Park she added 15 digs in addition to her 3 blocks, 10 assists, 2 aces serves, and 4 kills.</li>
</ul>
<p>2023:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="73495" first="Kate" last="Thibault"]</strong> / <em>Watertown Mayer</em> - Another defender who teams are lucky to score once against. She is a big part of their 9-0 record. She somehow managed an average 20 digs/match for their first 6 games of the year. Season high: 29 digs.</li>
<li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="73480" first="Maggie" last="Lile"]</strong> / <em>Spring Grove - </em>This tenacious defender covers the back court like a seasoned pro and packs a punch from the service line.</li>
<li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="73475" first="Sydney" last="Jaynes"] / </strong><em>Northfield -</em> The sophomore outside hitter can hold her own in the front and back row. She is improving with each match. This past week she had 15 digs and 13 kills over Rochester Mayo.</li>
