In this article:
Setters are in high demand and being a good setter doesn’t just require a player to have good hands but also be able to critically think on the court quickly and efficiently, move the ball around, and make instantaneous decisions on a regular basis. Setters are athletic, fast, smart, and leaders on the court.
These class of 2022 setters can really do it all! They rocked the Top 250 Expo and can compete at a very high level. College coaches, don’t sleep on these setters!
Rachel Rossman Rachel Rossman 5'9" | S Crown Point | 2022 State #189 Nation IN
It is hard to talk about the Top 250 Expo without mentioning Rachel Rossman Rachel Rossman 5'9" | S Crown Point | 2022 State #189 Nation IN who was nearly flawless for the entire expo. She sets hitters up for success, moves low and fast to the ball, and always seems to know who is the best possible option on the court. Rachel is a truly impressive setter who is great on defense, has a competitive serve, and is a leader on the court.
Emma Johnson Emma Johnson 5'10" | S Luxemburg-Casco | 2022 State WI
Emma is an insanely dynamic athlete who has a high volleyball IQ. She is so smart on the court and can push the ball pin to pin from nearly anywhere. Emma is a huge leader on the court as well. She is always pushing herself and never stops working hard. Emma is a fun setter to watch because she is hard to read and moves the ball around quickly and efficiently.

Cailyn Harrington
Cailyn impressed me with her grittiness on the court. She never gave up on a ball and she gave 100% on every single play from warmups to scrimmaging. On top of that, Cailyn has great hands and a very controlled jump set which she utilizes across the court. Cailyn kept catching my eye throughout the day because of her great plays and positive, gritty attitude.
Cadence Maxfield Cadence Maxfield 5'8" | S Notre Dame Academy | 2022 State WI
Cadence has truly beautiful sets. There really is no other way to describe them! She is so talented and never stops working to better the ball. She sets her hitters up for success and does the work to make their lives easier. Cadence is gritty and has a ton of hustle which makes her an awesome athlete to have on any team.
Katie Gund Katie Gund 5'11" | S Pewaukee | 2022 State WI
Katie is an athlete who comes to compete. It does not matter if she is peppering to warm up or playing for match point in a championship match, Katie gives it her all. She is gritty and covers the court incredibly well. On top of that, she has great hands and moves the ball around well. Katie is always on the move on the court, covering her hitters, playing defense, and, of course, setting!
Sydney Lewellin Sydney Lewellin S Lake Mills | 2022 State WI
I first saw Sydney play in our summer Prep Dig tournaments. She is a very smooth setter, always pushing the ball to hitters with seemingly little effort. Sydney is very fluid on the court, she is fast, does her job, and leads her team to success. She is a fun athlete to watch and is hard to read on the court. She definitely trips up blockers with her decisions on a regular basis.
Claire Ammeraal Claire Ammeraal 6'0" | S Madison LaFollette | 2022 State #179 Nation WI
Claire is an amazing setter with an awesome view of the court. She is truly a dynamic all-around athlete who just loves to play. Claire has everything a coach would want in a setter: she is gritty, competitive, a leader, plays awesome defense, can pound the ball, and makes smart decisions on her sets. Claire is definitely a setter that coaches should not sleep on!
