It won’t be long and we will hear the volleyballs and the cheering (although a little muffled) in gyms again. This weekend Prep Dig will kick off the club season with the Resolution Tournament. We will continue to keep our hopes high for a full club season after Wisconsin found a way to get kids back on the court this past fall competing through the WIAA or Prep Dig Tournaments and Leagues. We were excited to see teams as their rosters started to form and be posted on their club’s websites. With a fun mix of clubs, we predict an exciting season opener for these teams.

We will peruse the Badger region to learn about some of the 17/18s teams and rosters that will be competing January 2nd-3rd at the Community First Champion Center. We also plan to have plenty of content rolling during the tournament, so keep your eyes peeled for tweets from Prep Dig Wisconsin and your favorite scouts! And, if your team isn’t featured today, don’t worry! There is more to come, and coaches can send previews of your team to spikeitdown@hotmail.com.

This club is still young, but they still manage to get solid players. Madisyn Herman (2022-Bangor) will be an essential component in the team’s success while potentially leading the offense from the pin position. Joining her at the pins will be Tomah standout Lauren Noth (2023). Setter Toni Mitchell (2023 - Hillsboro) is an athletic setter who has continued to develop defensively with her blocking as well.

Caroline Olson (2021 – 6’0 - Sparta) has a strong presence at the net and has shown she can be effective both offensively and defensively. The setting duties fall into the hands of Ella Plueger (2021 – 5’6 - Tomah). Ball control will be one of their strongest identities with Jaylin Rezin (2021 – 5’5 – Tomah) and [player_tooltip player_id="117316" first="McKayla" last="Simao"] (2021 - 5’2 - Sparta) taking the first contact.

FC Elite finds a way to make an absolute star-powered roster that includes six players committed to Division 1 programs. They return some power pieces and added pin hitter [player_tooltip player_id="119394" first="Kennedy" last="Martin"] (2023 – 6’5 - De Pere) to the roster, who will provide a huge obstacle for opposing hitters while fine-tuning her all-around game. [player_tooltip player_id="12969" first="Hattie" last="Bray"] (Marquette), [player_tooltip player_id="80732" first="Brianna" last="Geurts"] (UW-Milwaukee), and [player_tooltip player_id="80725" first="Natalie" last="Johanknecht"] (UW-Green Bay) will secure the middle. Bray and Johanknecht can score across the net and run great slides. Geurts excels in front of the setter and does such a great job finding the weak spot in the defense.

The first contact should be locked down by [player_tooltip player_id="82282" first="Saige" last="Damrow"] (Wisconsin) who will dominate the libero position. You can’t ask for much more in a libero with her impeccable serve-receive. She should be joined by 6-rotation Pin Hitters [player_tooltip player_id="80713" first="Cora" last="Behnke"] (UW-Green Bay), [player_tooltip player_id="57241" first="Brianna" last="Cantrell"] (2022 – 5’11 – Appleton North), and [player_tooltip player_id="122483" first="Ella" last="Demetrician"] (2024 - 6’1 – Appleton North) as primary passers. Prep Dig #1 Ranked 2021 Player Brooke Mosher (Illinois), as well as Josie Halbeib (Kansas State), return as setters, while Appleton North’s [player_tooltip player_id="80719" first="Brooke" last="Bolwerk"] (Mankato) joins to help run the offense or help on defense as needed.

FVP G18-Blue

[player_tooltip player_id="118275" first="Emmie" last="Magnin"] (2022 – 5’10 – Oconto Falls) is a legit scorer from anywhere on the net and had a solid high school season. Defensive Specialist Anna Jamroz (2022 - Neenah) is set to anchor the defense, while Olivia Swenson (2022 – 6’0 - Seymour) will bring much-needed height to the middle position. Look for Carly Michalkiewicz (2022 – 5’9 - Xavier) to contribute in the front row in a pin position this winter after a strong high school season. Megan Kleinheinz (2021 – 5’7 - Winneconne) and Bre Young (2022 – Hortonville) will command the offense from the setter position and distribute the ball to the hot hand.
