Recruits To Top Collegiate Programs Lead Class of 2019

The top ten recruits in the Class of 2019 is like splitting hairs. Many of these players have committed to solid Division 1 programs and I have seen them all play at their best at the high school and club level. To be quite frank, it's like splitting hairs. Take your pick. Some coaches want a six rotation, others a libero you can always depend on a solid first contact and serve receive, and then you have your middles and setter which tend to make others look really good. What there is no argument for is how deep and athletic the Wisconsin Class of 2019 is. Dru Kuck is Prep Dig's top ranked prospect heading to the Badgers in a couple years. Kuck plays for Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold and Sheboygan North High School. An incredibly athletic, physical, and clutch libero she is always keeping her team in the game and is often the extra spark that is needed and others feed off of. Besides Kuck, here is a closer look into a few of the top ten of 2019.

#2 Kiana Schmitt - 6’3 MB - Capital Volleyball Academy - Waunakee High School

Committed To Creighton

Creighton will have two Wisconsin middles coming in with the Class of 2019 with Schmitt and Kiara Reinhardt from Cedarburg/Milwaukee Sting in 2020. Schmitt is 6’3 and plays extremely high and is so graceful and athletic making extremely difficult plays look relatively easy. As of the past few years, Creighton has made it to the Elite 8 and has been nationally ranked among some of the top programs in the country. They also will be playing in the Big East which will bring Schmitt back to Wisconsin when they play against Marquette and in Chicago with DePaul. Schmitt has made large amount of progress in her time at Waunakee (who will be looking to build off their state tournament appearance last season) and Capital, continuing to develop in a program as successful and sustainable in Creighton.

#4 Maggie Cartwright - 6’1 OH - FC Elite 17 Navy - Kimberly High School

Committed To Arkansas

With the unfortunate injury to Wisconsin commit, Liz Gregorski, Maggie Cartwright has stepped up in a big way with for FC Elite 17 Navy. Coming off a lot of momentum from the high school season, Cartwright is a high flyer who can play on the left or right side pin. She has also developed a back court game which is allowing her to play six rotations and be a threat from anywhere. Cartwright's best volleyball is still ahead of her, which is scary considering how she has raised her game plenty of levels in the past year.

#5 Kayce Litzau - 6’0 S/RS - Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold - Greendale High School

Committed to Wichita State

The versatility of Litzau is what has brought her into the top five for the Class of 2019. This past November, Litzau committed to play for the Shockers of Wichita State who most recently were able to host a first round site for the NCAA Tournament. Litzau’s main position would be a setter, but has played right side and ran a 6-2 offense for club and high school. A solid all around player and well trained will give her an advantage when she makes the transition to the next level. Litzau also has an intensity about her and a “Find a Way To Win Attitude” that is the persona of Sting 17 Gold with Kuck and Briana Scuric. These athletes are gritty, tough, and well skilled that when they play well they are tough for anyone to beat.

#9 Liz Gregorski - 5’10 OH - FC Elite 17 Navy - Xavier High School (Appleton)

Committed to Wisconsin

On the opening weekend of GLPL, Gregorski suffered a knee injury in their first match and has not been back on the court since. With the depth of FC Elite 17 Navy, they have had other athletes step up, but Gregorski is definitely a leader on the team. With a full approach it looks like she might just jump over the net. A solid beach player as well, Gregorski would have the ability to player libero if need be. A Wisconsin commit, she definitely has the tools in comparison to former Wisconsin prep standout and current Badger, M.E. Dodge. We wish Liz the best in her return to the court and making an impact with her play and leadership for FC Elite and Xavier High School!

#10 Cece Huhn - 6’1 MB - Wisconsin Volleyball Academy (WVA) 17 Black - Plymouth High School

Committed to Northern Colorado

Huhn has been a little bit under the radar, but is such a physical force at the net. At 6’1, Huhn is touching 10 feet and is so quick and powerful on a slide. Huhn’s quickness is a bit deceptive at how she is able to get in position so well, and seems to get a touch on everything. In the past two years, Huhn has made a tremendous amount of growth and will continue to be a force for WVA and the next level. Northern Colorado got a steal in Huhn who will be able to make an impact for them with her quickness and incredible athletic ability out of the middle.
