Class of 2022: Flying Aces

There is something special about a hard hit or well-placed serve that goes for an ace. In other words, it is an easy point. Here is a look at five players who were near the top leaders in service aces from the class of 2022. Players who can score for their team with one arm swing of the arm. OH, [player_tooltip player_id="123156" first="Lily" last="Boughfman"], 6’1”, Little River (Ranked No. 6) – Boughfman did not have the highest ace total in this class but she did have the most aces of players ranked in our Top 10. The Little River junior finished the season with 64 aces. She has the ability to take over matches. She had 323 kills for the Redskins and 32 blocks. She is also a strong basketball player. It will be interesting to see which coaches reach out to her. DS, [player_tooltip player_id="123087" first="Mia" last="Morrow"], 5’4”, St. Francis (Ranked No. 29) – Morrow is proof that dynamite can come in small packages. At five-foot-four she is the shortest player on this list. The St. Francis DS finished the 2020 season with 71 aces. She is also a solid two-row player who added 288 kills and 286 digs to go with her strong service numbers. OH, [player_tooltip player_id="123120" first="Livia" last="Schultz"], 5’10”, Wheatland-Grinnell (Ranked No. 88) – Schultz is an all-around gifted volleyball player. She led the Thunderhawks in aces with 70. The junior outside hitter also had 356 kills and 357 digs in her junior season. S, Maddi Bruce, 5’7”, Atchison – Bruce had 77 aces in the 2020 high school season. She also had 410 assists as the primary setter for Atchison. If she continues to improve, she has a solid chance of being added to the next round of class of 2021 player ranking additions. OH, Sydney Dumler, 5’8”, Cimarron – Dumler a junior outside hitter had 73 aces in the 2020 Bluejays campaign. She is better on the defensive side of the ball as she also added 297 digs.
