5 Dominant Pins Identified At The FVP Classic #2

The FVP Classic #2 was comprised of 2 half-day tournaments. The first was the 17/18s division, and as I was watching teams play, I was repeatedly stunned with the outside hitters. Many pin hitters were also terrific 6-rotation players, and like on many teams, they get the majority of the sets. Outside hitters need to be well-trained, intelligent, and good teammates. These players stepped up for their teams repeatedly. They were ready to play, full of power, energy, and very reliable.

#7 Alyvia Pontow – 2021 - Outside Hitter – FVP G18 Green

Pontow is a standout outside hitter who transitions well and has a nice high contact point. She has an aggressive approach that creates her momentum to hit a deadly attack down the line. Pontow was a vital player in FVP’s Silver Bracket win at the FVP Classic tournament last weekend.

#23 Eden Pierce – 2022 – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Menomonee Falls – Milwaukee Sting 17 Silver

Pierce is an outside hitter with a lot of ball control. She has a cache of shots and knows when to use them. Pierce’s capability to manage the speed of her swing and hit the deep line shot after taking an aggressive approach scores a lot of points for her team. Her solid passing and defense is also very composed and effective.

#11 Emma Reis – 2022 – Outside Hitter – Kimberly – FVP G18 Green

Reis packs a powerful punch with her swing. She knows when to be smart and hit a cross body swing down the line. Reis also brings great energy to the court along with a high point of contact making her hard to stop.

#1 Leah DeBraal - 2022 – Outside Hitter – Freedom - Wisconsin Blaze 18 Black

#1 was a crucial piece for this Blaze team in the Gold Bracket Championship. She is definitely a player who isn’t afraid to grind it out and work through the rough spots in a match. It didn’t matter if her team had just made a couple errors, she stepped up and was solid in the most crucial ways, serving and serve-receive.

#12 Serena Timmer - 2023 – Outside Hitter – Appleton East - Wisconsin Blaze 18 Black

#12 is a dynamo hitter from anywhere along the net. She is a spark plug for her team and has some height to put up a strong blocker. #12 is a great player to watch and her ability to make smart shots at the right time makes her a go-to attacker.
