Weekend Warriors Topping the Charts

These athletes give a whole new meaning to the phrase “weekend warrior” with the work they put in this Saturday. Here are the top performers by position.

HITTERS

Andrea Enabosi

This sophomore outside and middle blocker from Piscataway had a monster game over South Plainfield. Standing at 5’9”, she was hopping over the competition and landed 17 kills.

Ella Kretten

Senior outside and setter from Morris Catholic Ella Kretten earned 16 kills for Morris Catholic this Saturday. It wasn’t enough to take down Jefferson, but it did much to boost her stats and her team’s morale.

[player_tooltip player_id="99824" first="Gianna" last="Mangiamele"]

Westfield may have fallen to Hudson Catholic, but not before senior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id="99824" first="Gianna" last="Mangiamele"] could notch 16 kills.

McKenzie Melvin

Standing at just 5’7”, this senior outside is not to be trifled with. She landed 15 kills for Williamstown this weekend and even though it wasn’t enough to topple Southern, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an instrumental performance in the future of her team’s success.

Zuzanna Buchnajzer

This senior outside hitter is having an impressive season already. With 14 kills for Tenafly over Bergenfield, she has proven to be a consistently accurate hitting option for her squad.

SETTERS

[player_tooltip player_id="128499" first="Olivia" last="Cammalleri"]

This junior, standing at 5’8”, is a rare setter and outside hitter combo player for Demarest. She had 26 assists this weekend to take down River Dell and I’m sure there’s more where that came from.

Natalya Hechavarria

Union City is already having a breakout season thanks to the work of senior setter/opposite Natalya Hechavarria. She earned 22 assists over Harrison this Saturday.

Rachel Hennessey

Hudson Catholic’s setter Rachel Hennessey is having a great start to Season 3 as well. Just a junior, standing at 5’7”, Hennessey earned 24 assists over Westfield.

Stephanie Soares

With 28 assists for Southern, this senior helped her team take down Williamstown this Saturday.

PASSERS

Annalyse Santowasso

I had never heard of Rutgers Prep making the charts for New Jersey High School volleyball before, but this freshman is helping to turn the tides. With 29 digs against Voorhees, it is clear that she is comfortable taking control in the back row.

Connie Yu

Demarest’s own Connie Yu is a 5’2” libero who really floats like a butterfly behind the ten-foot line. She earned 26 digs over River Dell on Saturday and she’s nowhere close to finished.
