Team Detroit has been able to rack up the wins this year with 18 Red. In the state of Michigan, TeamD has been able to establish itself as one of the best. The same can be said within the region. This team has a lot of diverse hitters that can move around the net. [player_tooltip player_id="50333" first="Kira" last="Buza"] is an explosive middle that has a great sense for the big play. Abigail Costlow and Isabella Cooper are also two talented middles that can deliver with great power. Cooper can slide to the outside as well, joining the likes of Emma Chappell, Lindsay Hubler, Catherine Dobies, and Madison McGraw. Many of the outsides also can switch to DS to play alongside Jaydin Nowak for a sound backcourt. With steady passers, setters Katie Hopkins and Danielle Zalupski are able to smoothly run the offense. Both are experienced leaders that provide a lot of enthusiasm to the court.

17 Red

This squad definitely has some arguments to be among the best in the state and the region. They came through with a top-10 finish in the Nike Mideast Qualifier USA Division recently, and were also a semifinalist in the President’s Day Classic in Indy for the Premier Division. This team has some great defensive play behind [player_tooltip player_id="66305" first="Lauren" last="Heming"] and Hanna Rutila. Heming is playing up in age, but is proving to be one of the stronger defenders in the Class of 2023. Katie Belaire, [player_tooltip player_id="24874" first="Ellia" last="Sechrist"], Stella Thacker, Elizabeth Vance and [player_tooltip player_id="60855" first="Leah" last="Lafontaine"] are all strong finishers on the outside. LaFontaine has really raised her game in the last year. Sechrist has great length, but is returning from a knee injury that sidelined her for the prep season. In the middle Janiah Jones and Erin Morrisey have great length and are able to get their hands on a lot of attacks. At setter, [player_tooltip player_id="24865" first="Julia" last="Mills"] makes all the right decisions and has great chemistry with her hitters. This squad really has the potential to turn another gear over the remainder of the club season.

16 Red

16 Red has collected a lot of in-state wins this year and has a pair of top-10 finishes in tournament play in the club season. Leadership has been great for this quad, led by setters Laney Burns and Braedy Wineman. Both bring a lot of confidence to the team. When it comes to hitting, 16 Red has some diverse talent that can mix up positions. [player_tooltip player_id="108757" first="Stella" last="Day"] is a real explosive RS while Alexis Barber, Ayla Dunbar and Kendall Lozzi also finish well at the net, while moving well on the floor defensively for blocking and passing. In the middle Isabella Harding, McKenna Hempton and Marianna Rivera are tapping into their potential and growing quickly in terms of skill level. Defensively, Olivia Bonkowski and Kennedy Hudson are spry talents that play with a lot of energy and effort. They are real unsung heroes for the squad.

15 Red

This young squad has taken its lumps thus far in the 2021 club season, but are challenging themselves against some great competition that should bring out stronger play as the season winds down. This is a roster of 12 players and players still getting comfortable in their roles. Kayla Budziak, Caitlin O’Neill and Paige Przygoda each are setting options and working on adding to their repertoires. Avery Alfano, [player_tooltip player_id="110312" first="Lana" last="LaFontaine"], Lucy McCarthy, Jayden Teachout and Kayla Turmell handle play on the pins and are working on developing their assortment of swings and finishing consistency. In the middle Aubrey Galloway and Finley Ostach are growing in confidence and court vision. They both have a high ceiling as they continue to get reps against top-level talent. Defensively, Kaitlyn Freitag and Lexi Fetters are in the same boat. They are showing a lot of resiliency as they face powerful hitters and are starting to rely more on their instincts.
