Welcome to the State Tournament! The State Tournament starts today for some squads so we are going to do a breakdown of each Group of the tournament. These girls have been playing all year for this one moment. So let’s transition to Group 4!

North 1 Section

The North 1 Section of Group 4 features 14 squads. Bergen Tech is the top seed ain this section.

Players to Watch

Naomi Shi (Bergen Tech)

Shi is the catalyst to Bergen Tech. The offense runs through her and you can always see how she has her fingerprint on the game. Her 162 assists have been crucial for Bergen Tech.

Cammi Quirk (Ridgewood)

Quirk is ms. do it all for Ridgewood. She is all over the court making plays. She has been mainly the setter this year but she can play at opposite, outside and back row. She has 240 assists! She will be carrying this squad.

[player_tooltip player_id="99860" first="Kate" last="Louer"] (Clifton)

Louer’s numbers may be deceiving but have no fear, she is a must-watch. She plays both ends and it sometimes looks effortless. If there is a player to have a monster tournament. It’s her.

Prediction

Clifton over Bergen Tech

North 2

The North 2 section of Group 4 features 11 teams with North Hunterdon as the top seed in the bracket.

Players to Watch

[player_tooltip player_id="99812" first="Kyra" last="Hissner"] (North Hunterdon)

Hissner is an all-around talent. Wherever she is on the court, it does not matter what position she is playing. She is productive. She has 71 kills, 11 blocks, 76 digs and 125 assists. It’s absolutely ridiculous!

[player_tooltip player_id="99824" first="Gianna" last="Mangiamele"] (Wesfield)

Mangiamele is the top option for this Westfield squad. She has a live arm and knows how to create angles for herself extremely well to rack up kills. She has 120 kills and 119 digs on the season.

Natalya Hechavarria (Union City)

Hechavarria as stole the spotlight for this Union City squad. Her precision passing is perfection and it does not matter where she is. Her 202 assists have been the reason for the Union City success.

Prediction

North Hunterdon over Westfield

Central

The Central section in Group 4 as 13 teams with Hunterdon Central as the overall top seed.

Players to Watch

Ava Rogerson (Hunterdon Central)

Rogerson is a phenomenal setter. She’s creative and her volleyball IQ allows her to create opportunities for multiple players. She keeps the offense balanced to ensure opposing teams have no idea where she’s going with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="99819" first="Simrin" last="Carlsen"] (J.P. Stevens)

J.P. Stevens will go as far Carlsen can take them. She has a live arm and is lethal from anywhere on the court. She has 145 kills and 107 digs on the season. Expect her to carry this squad far.

Kaitlyn Alexander (Hillsborough)

If you want someone you can absolutely make a team look silly with how good her passing is. Go watch Alexander for Hillsborough. Her precision, weight of the set, deception is all there. It’s mesmerizing to watch.

Prediction

Hunterdon Central over J.P. Stevens

South

Lastly, we have the South section that features 15 teams with Cherokee as the overall top seed.

Players to Watch

Stephanie Soares (Southern)

Soares is a magician with the ball. It's effortless and beautiful to watch. She never misses a set and racked up 286 assists this season! Her fingerprint is always on the game.

Katie Montenero (Cherokee)

Montenero is another phenomenal floor-general always making the right play for her team. She has 202 assists on the year. She spreads the wealth to her teammates to ensure team success.

McKenzie Melvin (Williamstown)

Melvin's focal point was a defensive specialist but now she has picked up offensively as well this season. She is an all-around player who can play multiple positions. Watch for her to be all over the court.

Prediction

Southern over Cherokee
