We continue the "Available 22s" series by talking about high-flying, terminal pin attackers. Yesterday, our focus was on middles, of which there are plenty for this class. In today’s article, we have a variety of styles of play available.

[player_tooltip player_id="85816" first="Natalie" last="Lostutter"], 5-9 RS, Union, Floyd Central

Leading off our list is a high-flying banger from southern Indiana. Terminal? Check. Athletic? For sure. Volleyball acuity? Off the charts. If you need a solid, no-nonsense right side who can play multiple positions in both the front and back rows, Natalie is for you.

[player_tooltip player_id="85817" first="Macarty" last="McQueen"], 5-10 OH, Munciana, Carmel

For Carmel’s team leader in kills from last fall, look no further than Miss McQueen. Quick, springy, and can serve receive for you in a pinch, Macarty makes speed look easy. An effortless swing produces a heavy ball from both pins, and her variety of shots continues to improve.

[player_tooltip player_id="85812" first="Estella" last="Kleffman"], 5-9 OH, Union, Trinity Lutheran

From far and away the smallest school on this list, Miss Kleffman is an adept defender that can attack from anywhere. Like all Union players, volleyball smarts outweigh size, and she’s the perfect example. Although she projects to be a defender for larger schools looking for passing help, smaller schools should take advantage of the fact that Estella can and will make bigger, lumbering opponents look slow and not as skilled.

[player_tooltip player_id="85833" first="Isabel" last="Metzger"], 5-11 OH, Circle City, Zionsville

Mostly seen as a right side at the high school level, Miss Metzger can play both pins and receive serve as needed. Although slight in build, Isabel is capable of consistent, terminal swings from everywhere, and, if left unchecked, will take over a match. Graduating four attackers from last fall’s squad, she’ll be called upon to be everything everywhere for the Eagles. For now, she anchors a 17 Black squad at Circle that has seen a ton of success at both club and open levels.

[player_tooltip player_id="85834" first="Ella" last="Brooks"], 5-9 OH, Team Indiana, Carmel

Yet another pin from Carmel returning in the fall, Ella is a full-go, no quit, six-rotation outside that has arms long enough to go over bigger blocks and enough pace on the ball to tool better blocks. With her length, she makes up for the size disparity on defense, and can get to balls on the floor quicker than most DSs her size because of that same length. I like her play, I like her attitude, and I like that she’s a reliable, plug-and-play outside that should start from day 1 as an OH2 for smaller schools. Larger schools will like her outstanding defense and serve receive and her aggression from behind the baseline.
