Journee Brown Journee Brown 6'2" | MB Seymour | 2024 State IN , 6-2, Seymour
Although based in basketball, Journee is a physical force and can take over a match at will because of her size and athleticism alone. Add to it that her volleyball IQ is above average, she’ll never overtax herself, and almost makes the athleticism look easy. I’m hoping that in the coming years, she’ll have a setter to give her a few more zero tempo balls to see what she’s really made of.
Ella Boersema Ella Boersema 6'2" | MB Churubusco | 2024 State #178 Nation IN , 6-2, Churubusco
A Team Pineapple product, Ella transitions quick and loves one-footed attacks. She can also go pin to pin defensively with the best of them, and takes up space while doing so. Another kid whose physical presence can alter shots, Ella can get up faster than expected and can take over if needed.
Taylor Lewis Taylor Lewis 6'1" | OH Cathedral | 2024 State #179 Nation IN , 6-1, Cathedral
Munciana-trained and super fast, Taylor is already making waves at the varsity level, and was named the Maxpreps player of the match against Crown Point this past Saturday for her high efficiency and defense. I like her length and volleyball acuity, and she’s only going to get stronger from here. Already second in kills and blocks in this fall campaign, I look forward to their match against Center Grove next Tuesday.
Scarlett Kimbrell Scarlett Kimbrell 6'0" | OH Franklin Community | 2024 State IN , 6-0, Franklin Community
Also a basketball kid, here’s to hoping that Scarlett sticks to volleyball. In the first match of the season against Greenwood, Miss Kimbrell led the team in kills (10) and blocks (5), and added 2 aces, 2 digs and an assist just for good measure. She’s great off of two feet, and is slowly adding some of that basketball athleticism to her volleyball IQ on slide attacks. This might be a down year for the Grizzly Cubs, but not because of Scarlett.
Faith Wiseman Faith Wiseman 6'4" | MB Indian Creek | 2024 State IN , 6-4, Indian Creek
IC will definitely be taking their lumps this fall, but not because of Faith. A basketball stud through and through (just check out the write-ups on Prep Girls Hoops Indiana), Faith is a better blocker than attacker for obvious reasons. A late-comer to the game, Faith can alter shots and swing over most blocks on a regular basis. Although her passion is basketball, it’s worth it to mention her size and athleticism.
