As we’ve been able to dive into the season, players and teams are playing at the highest level. We are going to be looking at the top players statistically. These numbers were provided by NJ.com as of October 12th.
Kills
Ashanna Caviness Ashanna Caviness MB Bogota | 2023 State NJ (Bogota)
Caviness ability to hit from the inside and outside make her almost impossible to stop. She has 203 kills on the year which the most in the state.
Mackenzie Rock (Jefferson)
Rock is a force on the outside with a live arm and is a major problem with her ability to punish you from anywhere on the court. She has 184 kills on the season.
Mariella Hilyard Mariella Hilyard 5'11" | OH Mount St. Mary | 2022 State NJ (Mount St. Mary)
Hilyard is the focal point for Mount St. Mary She is the one keeping them in matches almost all by herself. She has a live arm and her 182 kills demonstrate that.
Blocks
Sofia DiProfio (Johnson)
DiProfio has great anticipation defensively to get blocks and she has a great swing in the middle with her ability to hit a multitude of shows which is why she has 62 blocks.
Adia Decasse (Toms River South)
Decasse has been a solid defender for Toms River South in the middle this season. She has great anticipation and able to guess her angles of where her opponents are going and gives her 55 blocks.
Emily Smernoff Emily Smernoff RS Sparta | 2024 State NJ (Sparta)
Smernoff is one who has contributed significantly for Sparta. Her timing on blocks has been crucial to why she has 48 on the season.
Assists
Joanna Andrews (Williamstown)
Andrews leaves her fingerprint on every play for Williamstown. Her volleyball IQ is off the charts and is the reason why she leads the state in assists with 416.
Kalena Stavish (Immaculate Heart)
Stavish has showcased her precision passing and ability to be creative from anywhere on the court which makes the entire team more dangerous offensively. She has 368 assists.
Mia Pimentel Mia Pimentel S Bogota | 2023 State NJ (Bogota)
Pimentel finally has her own show as the main setter for Bogota. She can make every pass and ensures to put her teammates in the best spot to make a play which is why she has 331 assists.
Aces
Angelyse Orellana (West Caldwell Tech)
Orellana has a solid serve for West Caldwell tech and she knows how to hit her spots. Finding the pockets of space where it’s difficult for opposing teams to make a solid pass which is why she leads the state with 66 aces.
Tiffany Paretti (Hammonton)
Paretti has been a major bright spot for Hammonton with a dominant serve. She gives her team so many free points or scoring opportunities by making it difficult which is why she has 63 aces.
Samiyah Abdur Rahim (Montclair Kimberly)
Abdur Rahim’s wicked serve remains as she was at the top in the spring and still is in the fall. She gives Montclair Kimberly so many free points off of her serve and has 61 aces on the season.
Digs
Gena Driscoll (Gloucester Catholic)
Driscoll has been a bright spot on a Gloucester Catholic squad that has struggled out of the gates. Her 270 digs is due to her high quality passing and ensuring it’s an opportunity for her teammates.
Abigail Adams (Morris Tech)
Adams has been all over the court for Morris Tech. Her anticipation and quick first step allows to get to balls many believe she can’t and is why she has 266 on the season.
Morgan Williams Morgan Williams DS/L Colonia | 2022 State NJ (Colonia)
Williams has great anticipation in the back row which allows her to be in the right spot to make a play on the ball. She has 250 digs on the season.
