Class of 2024 All-State Nominees – All Positions
The 2021 High School season has been amazing so far! Along with our readers, we have been on pins and needles watching teams battle all season long. There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are funneling into the end of district play and about to head into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our inaugural Prep Dig Texas All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences/classes together and pick the best of the best. The following players we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Kennedy Washington [2024] 6-0 Middle/Right Side (HS: Red Oak/Club: Texas Advantage /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kennedy is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but that could change when we update them next month. Miss Washington plays at Red Oak HS and also club for the nationally recognized Texas Advantage club program out of the North Texas Region. This young lady is a stud for Red Oak in the middle. She gets off of the ground really quickly as she approaches for a quick attack. What I love is her long reach and how she gets totally on top of the ball to score with authority. Her long arms allow her to be a super stopper at the net. Her blocking has a chance to be superb as she continues to grow in the position. Her TAV club program will for sure help her with that as they have some of the best coaches in the country. This past season at Red Oak, she tallied 388 kills out of the middle. She also had 55 digs, 91 blocks during her sophomore season. We are very proud to have her nominated for an All-State award this season. Please congratulate her on the honor.
Lauren Perry Lauren Perry 6'0" | OH Denton | 2024 State #44 Nation TX [2024] 6-0 Outside (HS: Denton/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Lauren is currently ranked as the 4th best prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her last year when we introduced the 2024 class and we stated the following, “Miss Perry is a stand out on the left side pin. She really came into her own this season playing on the varsity squad for her Denton high school program. She is not your typical freshman. She played like an upper classman for her team and she was part of their playoff run. We have a feeling she is not done yet as she shined in the front and back row for Denton High. She really stepped it up during the second half of the season. She is a true six rotation outside who can score in a variety of ways. She can shot it up or go hard down the line when she needs to. I have a feeling she will continue to rack up the kills and go down as one of the better hitters to come out of the Denton high school program once her career is over.” She has been phenomenal for Denton this past season in every aspect of the game. Her 478 kills this season are the 10th most amongst all sophomore hitters across the state. She also tallied 461 digs, 60 blocks, and 29 aces. Lauren is someone who we believe has a chance to be special and she keeps proving it year in and year out. Her play has earned her a nomination for one of our All-State awards. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement.
Grace Sweeney [2024] 5-9 Outside (HS: Midlothian/Club: NRG/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Grace is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but that is definitely going to change when we update them next month. Miss Sweeney plays at Midlothian High School and also club for the NRG club program out of the North Texas Region. The two-sport athlete excels in both volleyball and basketball at Midlothian. Grace is a true six-rotation outside hitter who can do it all on the court. This kid has great hang-time during her approach and packs a serious punch on her attack. She tallied the 3rd most kills amongst all sophomores across the state. Grace amassed 559 kills this season. She also had a hitting percentage of .253, 227 digs, 43 blocks and 56 aces during her sophomore season. We are very proud to have her nominated for an All-State award this season due to her play. Please congratulate her on the honor.
