Final Class of 2018 Player Rankings #4 – Sarah Wing

It’s officially summer time, and with that, it’s time to send off our 2018 players with the final rankings of their high school careers.

We’ve updated the Class of 2018 rankings now that their senior years of high school – and club volleyball – are over. Each day we will release more rankings until we get to the top.

For now, here is the player that finished #4. Congrats and best of luck in the future! Thanks for all you did to make high school volleyball in Nebraska so amazing!

#4 - Sarah Wing, 6'2, MH, Omaha Marian (Nebraska Elite) - committed to Iowa

After spending her freshman year at Blair, Wing transferred to Omaha Marian and was one of the top middle hitters in the state her three years there - including the top-ranked middle in the final Class of 2018 rankings.

Wing's attacking numbers don't jump off the stat sheet at you, but her defense and her ability to efficiently terminate on a team with so many offensive weapons was a big reason why the Crusaders won state titles her sophomore and senior years. Her junior year she missed the state tournament with an injury - and that was the one season Marian didn't win the title with her on the roster.

Wing finished her high school career with 555 kills, 63 ace serves and 182 solo blocks. Her senior season Wing hit .358 with 191 kills, had 28 ace serves and finished with 75 solo blocks.

"Sarah is a dynamic one foot take-off hitter and has only known winning as a high school middle," Iowa coach Bond Shymansky said. "We expect her versatility and work ethic to be a cornerstone of her game. She is another great addition from the greater Omaha area for the Hawkeyes."
