Continue ReadingOur positional breakdowns continue with the uncommitted middles from the class of ’22 in Indiana. Some are well known, some are new to our reviews. In either case, these five should make an impact somewhere at the next level in the fall of 2022.
Lovie Wallace Lovie Wallace 6'0" | MB Hamilton Southeastern | 2022 State IN , 6-0, Munciana, Hamilton Southeastern
There is exactly ONE athlete on this entire class of ’22 list that has both a state championship and a national championship, and that’s Lovie. She always seems to be around winning volleyball, and has the maturity and work ethic to continue winning, no matter where she goes. Her transition is quick, she had a fast and heavy arm, and blocks well from pin to pin.
Niesha Anderson Niesha Anderson 6'2" | MB Fort Wayne Snider | 2022 State IN , 6-2, Empowered, Snider
This Fort Wayne-area athlete is easily the biggest and strongest on this list. She’s broad-shouldered, so she takes up space on the block. She has length, making her an easy target to set so that she can go OVER the block in front of her. She also has high-end work ethic; as recent as two seasons ago, Niesha wasn’t even on our list, let alone on the radar. Going into her senior club season, I’d be interested to see how much further she can go.
Jordan Fryman Jordan Fryman 6'0" | MB Hamilton Heights | 2022 State IN , 6-0, MB/RS, Academy, Hamilton Heights
Since the rosters for Academy VBC haven’t been released yet, I can only assume Jordan stays at Academy, after a successful season on 17-1 last club year. She excels in the M2 position, as her attacks off of two feet are both terminal and efficient. Her arm through the attack zone is quick, and when the set isn’t the greatest, she still finds ways to terminate. One thing that does separate Jordan from this group of five is her ability to move to the right pin if needed. Her experience in both should make her a high priority for teams looking for hybrid attackers and defenders.
Payton Daulton Payton Daulton 5'11" | MB Lafayette Harrison | 2022 State IN , 5-11, Boiler Juniors, Lafayette Harrison
Although Payton is the smallest on this list, she has quick springs and a fast transition to make up for it. She’s also lethal from behind the service line. Her defense is more developed than her offense at the moment, and after a highly successful high school season, here’s to hoping she got stronger too.
Audrey Naberhaus Audrey Naberhaus 6'0" | MB Brownsburg | 2022 State IN , 6-0, Circle City, Brownsburg
Audrey’s high school career has been largely overshadowed by pin players who are either (1) already signed to division 1, or (2) already committed to division 1. Since this is a team sport, I’m positive that without Audrey’s offense and defense, the Bulldogs wouldn’t not have advanced as far as they have the past two seasons. Now, into her senior club year at Circle, she projects to being an M1, as her one-footed attacks are tough to defend. She also has enough length and strength to go from pin to pin on defense, and can keep teams honest with her consistency and efficiency. Audrey will find a home somewhere, it’s just a matter of time.
