The Saginaw Bay area is chock full of top teams. Some players led their teams to upset post season favorites. Others led their teams to their first post season title in ten years. And some helped in racking up 50 victories in a single season.

From Division 1 to Division 3, multiple teams were consistently ranked within the top 25 throughout the season. The Saginaw Bay Area has some elite volleyball and we're breaking down the best of the best from 2021.

Here are the members of the 2021 All-Saginaw-Bay Area Dream Team’s Second Team.

Logan Martinus (2022) | 5’10 OH | Birch Run/Five:1

With a team full of defensive dandies, Logan Martinus was the go-to player when Birch Run needed to score. Her signature move was a wicked line shot on the left that was near unstoppable to defend. Birch Run was able to capitalize on her versatility running across the net with great success. Her offense was a key part in the Panther’s upset over district favorites, Frankenmuth, in the third round.

[embed]https://x.com/LineShotVBall/status/1475695947552374784?s=20[/embed]

[player_tooltip player_id="172193" first="Taylor" last="Schram"] (2023) | 5’7 OH/DS | Birch Run/Five:1

Birch Run played with one of the toughest defensive duos in the state with [player_tooltip player_id="172193" first="Taylor" last="Schram"] and [player_tooltip player_id="66297" first="Kalliann" last="Cook"]. Both of who are starting liberos for their respective clubs, Schram played all season as a 6-rotation left side attacker. Her constant presence on the court made it cut throat for opponents to score on the Panthers. Schram also showed to have quite the range of shots up her sleeve that kept opponents scrambling.

[player_tooltip player_id="24858" first="Megan" last="Gross"] (2022) | 5’11 OH | Bay City Central/Arsenal

Capping off one impressive prep career, [player_tooltip player_id="24858" first="Megan" last="Gross"] has shown to be a game changer throughout. As a freshman at Unionville-Sebewaing, Gross was a big piece in the Patriots’ run to a Division 3 Runner-Up finish. Now as a senior, she’s led the Bay City Central Wolves to their first district title in ten years! The Albion commit has grown to be an elite six rotation outside hitter with a heavy arm and great defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="172189" first="Laney" last="Kokaly"] (2023) | 5’6 Lib | Essexville-Garber/Five:1

[player_tooltip player_id="172189" first="Laney" last="Kokaly"] has been a mainstay in the Garber lineup for over three seasons now. This year, she really stepped up her game. En route to a 50 win season for the Dukes, Kokaly was rock solid in the back row. In 2021, Kokaly was averaging about 5 digs per set. In just her junior season, she has climbed her way to the top of the record boards. Not only is Kokaly number one for digs in a single season, but she also claimed top honors for career digs in school history

Ella Wagner (2023) | 5’7 S | Essexville-Garber

Garber's offense was pretty spread out with weapons across the net. it wasn't hard for Ella Wagner to find a scoring outlet. A steady setter, Wagner doesn't go for the fancy trick plays. She just gets the job done, and a very good one at that. Wagner has a vision for the court, defending her own well and finding open area dumping on two. One of the top setters in Bay County, Wagner led the county in assists per set this season with 8.5.

Ashlyn Martin (2022) | 6’1 MB | Saginaw Valley Lutheran

This middle blocker is one of the most dynamic in the area. With the ability to play on the pins, she plays a really versatile game. Ashlyn Martin not only is able to bring the heat with her attacks, but she can spread it around with ease. Martin was a go-to weapon in the Valley Lutheran offense, leading the team in attacks and efficiency.

Adrianna Mileski (2022) | 6’0 MB | Swan Valley/Five:1

Another athletic middle, Adrianna Mileski plays a very explosive game. With a whip of an arm, Mileski is a terminator. Not only is her arm speed tough to slow down, but her ability to hit different sets across the net is tough. While she can bring the hammer down on opponents, Mileski also has a very clever off-speed game to keep defenders honest.
