Each of these athletes are capable of running a 5-1 at the next level, and each have specific skills that make them unique.
Mya Ball Mya Ball 6'2" | RS Angola | 2024 State #124 Nation IN , 6-0, Team Pineapple , Angola
Mya, daughter of olympian Lloy, is the prototypical Division 1 setter that schools covet. She can be offensive when needed, can get to tight or out-of-system passes with ease, and locates the ball well in a fast offense regularly. As needed, she can also attack as a right side, but her future looks brightest as a setter. Older brother Dyer is currently playing at Ball State, so you know the bloodline will continue.
Emery Moore Emery Moore 5'10" | S North Central | 2024 State IN , 5-10, Circle City, North Central
Probably the most athletic setter on this list, Emery has a ton of speed and strength to get to every ball and make accurate sets nearly every time she touches the ball. She leads both vocally and by example, and has no problem doing the dirty work for her squad. As champions of the Show Me Qualifier, Emery is responsible for most if not all of their successes. She can score from anywhere, is in on every attack for her squad, and can lead with ease.
Allie Shondell Allie Shondell 5'9" | S McCutcheon | 2024 State #78 Nation IN , 5-9, Boiler Juniors, McCutcheon
With a state title already under her belt, Allie is the second on this list from a long line of volleyball legends. Already running a fast offense, this daughter of Purdue assistant coach John Shondell is a gym rat and high-level setter that will be coveted by multiple programs, if not already sought after. Her high hands, volleyball IQ and perennial winning record make Miss Shondell a can’t-miss prospect for the class of ’24.
Leah Richmond Leah Richmond 5'8" | S Lawrence North | 2024 State IN , 5-8, Academy, Lawrence North
A compact and strong setter with jumping ability and speed is what you’re getting from Leah. She can make any set from any spot on the floor, defends at a plus level for her position and leads by example. Quiet and steady, Miss Richmond is constantly and consistently focused on the next ball, regardless of the previous play. She’ll once again be responsible for the Wildcat offense in the fall.
Meredith Slaton Meredith Slaton 5'7" | S Scottsburg | 2024 State IN , 5-6, Union, Scottsburg
Attention: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS KID. She can do whatever the other four setters on this list can do, and then some. Watching her play, I sometimes wonder if she uses that mentality against her opponents. Her volleyball acuity is off the chart, she can run a 5-1 or be part of a 6-2, is a highly coachable kid and is very athletic. Running a faster-than-average offense is her specialty, and is more offensive than the average setter of this size and class.
