Saint Thomas More High School Team Preview and Players to Watch

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Saint Thomas More High School might not be the first team you think of when someone says volleyball in Wisconsin, but they should be on your radar. They are in the Metro Classic Conference and took second place last year in the conference tournament to The Prairie School who they had beaten earlier in the season. But, their record is not the reason you should be watching them this coming season. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What makes the varsity team at Saint Thomas Moore unique is they had no starting seniors in 2017. In fact, the majority of their starting varsity players were sophomores who were also in the starting lineup their freshman year in 2016. It is extremely rare in high school volleyball not to have at least one starting senior. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This program is clearly building from the ground up; and with an extremely strong class of 2020, they have been able to do so, growing each and every season. Their powerhouse group of incoming juniors include outside hitter <strong>Melanie Monaco</strong>, setters <strong>Josie D’Amato</strong> and <strong>Maddie Hoch</strong>, libero <strong>Katie Hock</strong>, middle blocker <strong>Jenna Flayter</strong>, and defensive specialist <strong>Emily Klamik</strong>. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is also a strong group of sophomores and a large incoming freshman class that will continue to round out the team and build this program. The Cavaliers look to be highly competitive in their conference this year with hopes to go far in their extremely challenging regionals. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Saint Thomas Moore is competing in the Prep Dig Summer League and pulled out wins against two volleyball powerhouses, Menomonee Falls High School and Brookfield East High School. They currently have a 5-1 record in the league. This is clearly a group of talented individuals with a lot of passion for the game and drive to do well. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With a strong coaching team and a group of dedicated players, the Cavaliers will have a successful 2018 season. They play to win and are sure to bring an exciting season of volleyball. </span></p>
