Continue ReadingWe have been watching the 2023 class very closely throughout the entire club season. A lot of the analysis has come from watching these players in person. We have also been watching the amazing footage that has been uploaded to everyone’s recruiting profiles in order to determine placement. We have been talking to a lot of coaches across the country and this class is littered with college prospects. The following players showed us all that they deserved to be moved up the rankings due to their individual performances.
Hannah Gonzalez Hannah Gonzalez 6'3" | MB Lovejoy | 2023 State #170 Nation TX [2023] 6-3 Middle (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Madfrog /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Hannah has done it again. She just made another movement up in the 2023 State Rankings. She went from being ranked as the 23rd best overall player to now being listed as the 14th best overall player in Texas. Miss Gonzalez plays at Lovejoy HS and also club for national powerhouse Madfrog . We profiled her in our last rankings update when we moved her up then and here is what we stated, “The super middle has been acknowledged as one of the best in her age group by numerous publications. She has been a part of Lovejoy’s back-to-back UIL 5A State Championships and is one of the big reasons why they have a shot to three-peat this year. She burst onto the scene as a freshman and was one of the kill leaders on her varsity squad right away. She has not stopped since and is a wrecking ball to opponent’s game plan. She is on every college coach’s radar and will have her pick of the litter soon. When we watched her in the UIL State Championship match she was dominant. She was pivotal in helping Lovejoy claim their third straight State Title. She is a true power middle who can change a game on both ends.” Miss Gonzalez’ star is continuing to rise in every college coach’s eye as they watch her play beautifully on the court. She is definitely a woman amongst girls out there. We are proud to be able to watch her volleyball journey. Please congratulate her on the special achievement of moving up the rankings.
Cecily Gooch Cecily Gooch 6'3" | MB Highland Park | 2023 State #183 Nation TX [2023] 6-2 Middle/Right Side (HS: Highland Park/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Michigan)
Miss Gooch has proven herself to be quite the player this year and we have noticed. She has made a big jump in the rankings. Ceci just went from being ranked as the 35th best overall player to now being the 17th best overall player in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Gooch stars at Highland Park HS and for the amazing Drive Nation 17 Red. We have written about her a few times and here is a refresher of what we wrote about her play at a tourney we saw her at in person, “Miss Gooch moved over to the right side this past weekend and absolutely housed her opponents routinely. She used every bit of her six foot two frame to punish everyone that she faced this weekend. I loved how her blocks ignited such a fire for her team when they needed it the most. Ice water definitely runs through her veins as she looks so fired up when she plays. It was super fun to watch her do her thing. She will be a huge factor for them in whichever position they use her as she is one of the most versatile players in the age group.” The Michigan commithas wowed us numerous times this year. I have watched her take over matches on both the offensive and defensive end at the net multiple times this year. She has grown as a player right before our eyes over the past couple of years and we are very proud of her. Please help us congratulate her on the movement up the rankings.
Becca Kelley Becca Kelley 6'3" | OH Rockwall Heath | 2023 State #126 Nation TX [2023] 6-3 Outside (HS: Rockwall Heath/Club: Dallas Skyline/Signed: Uncommitted)
We are proud to announce that Becca has made one of the biggest jumps in the State Rankings with this update. She went from ranked as the 106th best overall player to now listed as the 34th best overall prospect in the state in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She was also just recently named as the 104th best overall player in the nation according to our National Rankings. She plays at Rockwall Heath High School and for the nationally recognized Dallas Skyline volleyball club. We profiled her at the end of last year when we added her to the rankings and here is a refresher of what we stated, “Becca is a tall, long and talented outside hitter who has power for days. I feel sorry for the ball once its contacted by her because she has a cannon. Her footwork is one aspect that should attract many college coaches because she is able to fly around the court and cover a lot of ground defensively. That foot speed will also help her recover well while in transition to be ready to attack at all times. Her athleticism alone will be something that college coaches will drool over.” Every single time I watched her this year during the club season, she was the best player on the court. Her athleticism is something that you just cannot take your eyes off of. She has definitely earned her placement in both state and national rankings. Please help us congratulate her on the honor.
