Columbus was on fire this weekend with some of the best teams in country coming together for one last tune up before we hit the road for nationals!
Not only is nationals around the corner for this 16s group, but recruiting opens up! This was a division you did NOT want to miss this weekend.
Here are some of the best pin attackers from Summerfest!
Lily Barron Lily Barron 6'2" | OH Oletangy Orange | 2024 State OH – 6’1 OH – Mintonette
I have been meaning to catch a game of Mintonette’s for awhile now and they did not disappoint this weekend. And by they, I mean, Lily Barron Lily Barron 6'2" | OH Oletangy Orange | 2024 State OH . Barron is a great attacker with a lengthy reach. And she was absolutely huge against a tough FaR Out squad to advance to the quarter-finals with a 13 kill performance.

Lameen Mambu Lameen Mambu 6'0" | OH Chantilly | 2025 State #64 Nation VA – 6’1 OH – Paramount
Either we were on the moon, or this girl has some HUGE hops! Lameen Mambu Lameen Mambu 6'0" | OH Chantilly | 2025 State #64 Nation VA was one of the highest jumpers I have seen all season long and she delivered some eye popping plays this weekend. Mambu’s play is reminiscent of a Yossiana Pressley, high in the air and obliterating the ball!
Asia Thigpen – 5’11 OH – Triangle
Triangle had a pair of the some physical pins this weekend. Asia Thigpen was a huge piece of this squad’s overall game. A great defender and passer, a sight to see for someone who can crank the ball as well as she can.
Kiarrah Horne – 6’2 OH – Triangle
Right alongside Thigpen, Kiarrah Horne gave opponents no relief on the court. If it wasn’t Thigpen, it was Horne getting the ball and if you thought her counterpart could put away a ball, just wait. Horne is as physical as they come and, for her size, a great asset in the back court.

Isabelle Swiercz Isabelle Swiercz 6'2" | OH Hudsonville | 2024 State #110 Nation MI – 6’2 OPP – FaR Out
I wasn’t sure how FaR Out would do this weekend looking at their season schedule, but man, did they deliver. Isabelle Swiercz Isabelle Swiercz 6'2" | OH Hudsonville | 2024 State #110 Nation MI was up to the challenge and proved to be what every great opposite is, a go-to scorer and massive block. Swiercz is a name that needs to be on every radar come June 15th.
Elana Erickson Elana Erickson 5'10" | OH Forest Hills Northern | 2024 State #79 Nation MI – 5’10 OH – FaR Out
Talk about someone rising to a challenge, Elana Erickson Elana Erickson 5'10" | OH Forest Hills Northern | 2024 State #79 Nation MI was a PROBLEM this weekend. Opponents had no answer to Erickson, they couldn’t dig her, they couldn’t block her, she was invincible at times. And even when she rotated to the back, she wasn’t going to let anyone score.
Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6'4" | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA – 6’2 OH – Metro
Metro is a well-known, physical squad. Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6'4" | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA was showing off just what they’re known for this weekend. Six rotations and full of fire power, Sellman was impressive this weekend. She has a great high swing with the ability to cut the ball for some nasty angles.

Macaria Spears Macaria Spears 6'3" | OH Prestonwood Christian | 2025 State #5 Nation TX – 6’3 OH – Metro
Like I said, these girls know how to bang a ball. Macaria Spears Macaria Spears 6'3" | OH Prestonwood Christian | 2025 State #5 Nation TX is playing up an age group, but she could easily go toe-to-toe with some of the best in any division. Spears is a superb attacker with the hops and reach to go right over the biggest of blocks.
Renee Jones Renee Jones 6'5" | RS Flint Hill | 2025 State #132 Nation FL – 6’5 OPP – Metro
I love myself a lefty on the right side, and Renee Jones Renee Jones 6'5" | RS Flint Hill | 2025 State #132 Nation FL is one of my new favorites to keep an eye on. At 6’5, she’s not letting any ball go through her block and as a lefty, she’s nearly impossible to defend. I don’t think she’s near her peak yet either, Jones will be a fun one to watch develop for the next few years.
Morgan Gaerte Morgan Gaerte 6'4" | OH Angola | 2024 State #26 Nation IN – 6’4 OH – Team Pineapple
Morgan Gaerte Morgan Gaerte 6'4" | OH Angola | 2024 State #26 Nation IN is going to have a busy June 15th, and she proved why this weekend. She’s 6’4, can crank on a ball, big block and can pass at a high level! Do I need to say more?! Gaerte was one of the best attackers on the weekend and nearly took her team to a top five finish.

Amanda Mack – 6’1 OH – K2
If you wanna see someone take a rip at the ball, Amanda Mack would be a great place to start! K2 wasn’t a team much on my radar until I saw Mack take a crack down the line, then they had my full attention for quite some time. Mack has a great contact when she swings and can spread the ball around with ease.
Cayla Cogan Cayla Cogan 5'10" | OH Clarkston | 2024 State #96 Nation MI – 5’9 OH – Legacy
I am constantly reminded how good Cayla Cogan Cayla Cogan 5'10" | OH Clarkston | 2024 State #96 Nation MI can be on the court, because this girl can get UP! Despite her size, this player can jump out of the gym and with a great deep swing, she’s proven to be difficult to slow down.
Makenzie Wagner Makenzie Wagner 5'10" | RS Providence | 2024 State IN – 6’1 OPP – UNION
I was very impressed with Makenzie Wagner Makenzie Wagner 5'10" | RS Providence | 2024 State IN when I first saw her earlier in the season and she’s only getting better. A huge piece to UNION’s game, Wagner can terminate just about anywhere on the court. With a heavy south paw and great vision for her opponent’s defense, she’s a tough one to slow down.
Katelyn (Katie) Berry – 5’9 OH – L2
Katelyn (Katie) Berry is really the glue that keeps this team running. She’s a perfect six rotation player that can pass and defend like a libero and then she does pretty well taking out the trash at the net. Berry was showing off more of her offensive side this weekend and it was a great sight to see.
