Columbus was on fire this weekend with some of the best teams in country coming together for one last tune up before we hit the road for nationals!
The 17 Open was on fire with some of the biggest names in the nation going head to head. From the likes of Harper Murray Harper Murray 6'2" | OH Skyline | 2023 State #2 Nation MI to Nya Bunton Nya Bunton 6'5" | MB DuPont Manual | 2023 State #7 Nation KY and Ava Sarafa Ava Sarafa 6'0" | S Marian | 2023 State #14 Nation MI , the legends of tomorrow were on tap to throw down.
Here are some of the best setters from Summerfest!
Erin Kline Erin Kline 6'2" | S Mercy | 2023 State #123 Nation MI – 6’1 S – Legacy
Pacing the way all the way to a Summerfest championship, Erin Kline Erin Kline 6'2" | S Mercy | 2023 State #123 Nation MI really showed some resiliency during the weekend. With a tough power pool that saw Legacy drop a head scratching game, Kline and company regrouped to take on the gauntlet on Sunday and secure the Summerfest crown.
Ava Sarafa Ava Sarafa 6'0" | S Marian | 2023 State #14 Nation MI – 6’0 S – Michigan Elite
This setter continues to impress with every viewing. One of the most athletic and dynamic players in her class, Ava Sarafa Ava Sarafa 6'0" | S Marian | 2023 State #14 Nation MI knows just what to do when ya need it most. Even without a middle on day 1, calling up a DS to fill in, Sarafa was a main reason Michigan Elite could pull out of pool play and into a tough gold bracket on Sunday.

Whitney Woodrow Whitney Woodrow S Assumption | 2023 State #120 Nation KY – 5’10 S – KIVA
Whitney Woodrow Whitney Woodrow S Assumption | 2023 State #120 Nation KY is not short of options when it comes to hitters to feed. But in as tough of a pool on day 1 as KIVA was in, Woodrow stepped up big time. Like Kline, Woodrow was able to turn around a tough day 1 and turn it into a big championship Sunday, making it all the way to the gold medal match.

Lindsey Green Lindsey Green 5'11" | S Ursuline | 2023 State OH – 5’10 S – Elevation
Elevation is well-equipped with their share of big hitters AND talented setters. Lindsey Green Lindsey Green 5'11" | S Ursuline | 2023 State OH was a joy to watch throughout the weekend. A 6-2 is a tough system to run and Green elevates her team with every sub. Her connection with the middles were spot on all weekend long and a huge reason for a top five finish for Elevation.
Nayellis Cabello – 6’0 S – Top Select
Get you a player that can do it all, Nayellis Cabello can hammer it down at the net and she can run an offense like a seasoned veteran. Cabello is only a 2024 and proved herself more than ready to hang with the big dogs of the 17 Open this weekend. Such a talent, I predict her June 15th to be stacked with phone calls.
Zoey Dood Zoey Dood 6'2" | S Grandville | 2024 State #131 Nation MI – 6’2 S – MVA
We didn’t see Zoey Dood Zoey Dood 6'2" | S Grandville | 2024 State #131 Nation MI much on day 1, she was just nonchalantly jumping a 5’7 at Michigan’s Division 1 track meet and earning herself a fourth place finish. If she wasn’t impressive enough and if you didn’t think this girl could jump. HELLO! Dood returned to the courts for Day 2 however and secured a 2-1 record on the day.
