Tecumseh
The Braves are like clockwork with their 20-win seasons. Even in class 2A last season, they went 26-5. With the IHSAA tournament success factor, however, they move back to 1A and are looking to place fear in the hearts of their fellow southern Indiana opponents. Two-time all-state honoree Kaybree Oxley is gone, but there is so much returning, headlined by Payge Johnson Payge Johnson 5'8" | OH Tecumseh | 2024 State IN (’24, 5-8 OH/S, 2.3 k/s, .296, #1 aces, #1 digs, #1 assists). She’s a do-everything kid that will lead the way in all aspects of their success this fall. Also returning are Bri Marx (’23, 5-11 MB, 1.8 k/s, .259), who brings the bulk of the size coveted in 1A. Jaylin Boger Jaylin Boger 5'11" | MB Tecumseh | 2023 State IN (’23, 5-10 RS/MB, 1.6 k/s, .353) and Jenna Donohoo (’24, 2.3 k/s, .260, #2 aces, #2 digs) should be able to make up the bulk of what Miss Oxley did, and Tecumseh’s program is the most complete 1A program this side of Muncie. They don’t rebuild, they reload.

From the land of Larry Legend come the Blackhawks, who have another do-everything player in Leigh Carnes Leigh Carnes 5'8" | OH Springs Valley | 2024 State IN (’24, 3.2 k/s, .258). She can set, attack, defend, receive serve—pretty much every part of the game is her speciality. This is a team that can sneak up on people, and the attackers are numerous. I like that their schedule is perennially tough, but to get through the southern half of the draw, Tecumseh will be there waiting.
