A number of these players were big contributors for their teams as sophomores and are now in place to breakout for the upcoming fall season.
Zoey Dood Zoey Dood 6'2" | S Grandville | 2024 State #131 Nation MI , S Grandville
Dood is already a name to know nationally in the Class of 2024. However, she steps into the 2022 prep season really ready to establish herself as a leader on the floor. The talent is there, now it’s time for Dood to take control and show off all her skills while running a fast offense for Grandville. I look for a big year from the 6’2” setter.
Caroline Baker Caroline Baker 5'9" | S Byron Center | 2024 State MI , S Byron Center
Byron Center graduated some really big pieces from its 2021 squad, but Baker was still a steady part of a two-setter rotation. She also was a key defensive asset. This year, Baker is in for a much bigger role and will be relied on to be the court general for this squad. She can play at a high level and raise the game of her teammates.
Isabelle Swiercz Isabelle Swiercz 6'2" | OH Hudsonville | 2024 State #110 Nation MI , OH Hudsonville
The 2021 prep season was a big one for Hudsonville, as it reached the state semifinals. The team was very senior-heavy, especially at the net. However, Swiercz was a big contributor as a sophomore. This fall, she steps onto the court as the clear go-to hitter for Hudsonville. While the Eagles won’t have the depth they had last year, Swiercz is a player that has proven she can step up and shoulder the load.
Cameron Herman Cameron Herman 5'11" | OH Hartland | 2024 State MI , OH Hartland
Herman was on a senior-heavy squad last year as a sophomore and proved to be able to hold her own. Coming into 2021, the Eagles will need her intensity and athletic ability to help them overcome the big graduation losses. Herman has shined in big situations before. This should be a real coming out party for her as a junior.
Carissa Musta Carissa Musta 6'3" | MB Cadillac | 2024 State MI , MB Cadillac
Cadillac has had some top-level players leading the way in recent years and Musta looks to be the next in line. She put up major numbers as a middle last year, finishing second in kills on the squad while racking up an eye-popping 155 blocks. At 6’3”, Musta already has an edge against a lot of her opponents, but her athleticism and footwork make her a complete player.
Audrey Geer Audrey Geer 5'10" | OH Frankenmuth | 2024 State MI , OH Frankenmuth
Geer was already stepping up as a team leader in the 2021 season as a sophomore. However, a new prep season gives her a chance to shine even brighter. She’s got the explosiveness and determination to go toe-to-toe with any of the other 2023 hitters. It will be interesting to see if she can elevate Frankenmuth to a breakout season.
