The Circle City was chock full of the best of the best in the country and some even came to show off at our Prep Dig National showcase last Thursday.
Basking in all of this talent, we’re going to be breaking down some of the best from the showcase. On to the towering blockers in the middle, this showcase had some of the best!
Here are some of the best middle blockers from the 2022 USAV x Prep Dig Showcase.
Sawyer Abuckle – 5’8 MB – UEPA
She may be on the smaller size, but how explosive in nature this athlete plays can put her head and shoulders above the rest. Abuckle is quick off the ground and she has a hammer of an arm for a big combination at the net.
Makayla Frazier – 6’1 MB – Baltimore Elite
This was one of those athletes that I feel has a lot of upside. She has natural size for a middle blocker and was making some great moves throughout the showcase. Frazier shows signs to be a dangerous threat with more development.
Alana Villela – 6’1 MB – NorCal
Villela is a huge presence in the middle and is a huge threat for those she contends with. Her leaps are quite remarkable to watch and her block is a total wall.
Aliya Hofherr – 5’9 MB – Aloha State
Another smaller middle with a huge hop in her game, Hofherr plays a lot of her game with speed as well. She’s a middle you can always rely on in transition and she has some very driving shots up her sleeve.
Alexa Bauckman – 6’0 MB – SoCal
One of the lonely middles for session II, Alexa Bauckman got a lot of reps with her lack of counterparts and she shined bright. Bauckman has a great swing and a healthy jump that was very dynamic in a variety of scenarios.
