Kitchens is Simon Kenton’s career kills leader for a reason. She puts tremendous force into balls with a lot of accuracy, including from the back row. If she senses a player having problems with her spikes, she’ll continue to send balls that way in addition to sending them away from opponents. Kitchens had tough crosses and pounded balls off blockers in the win. Kitchens makes good passes and has a nice jump serve. Kitchens said players still have to listen to everyone else even as leaders as part of a team effort.

Kitchens (pictured) moved up 15 spots because of her prowess on the floor. Kitchens will only continue to grow as an all-around player with another season at NKYVC. Kitchens has become a reliable hitter from all six spots on the floor. Kitchens is also a sound passer, blocker and server. Kitchens had 385 kills, 29 assisted blocks, 192 digs and 45 aces, helping Simon Kenton go 30-6 with another 32nd District crown and runner-up finish in the 8th Region Tournament.

Kitchens did a great job swinging at different parts of the court and played a key role to the defensive adjustments the Pioneers needed to win. Kitchens picked up some of Oldham County’s line shots in the victory. Kitchens surpassed 1,000 kills for her career in the win. Kitchens said the team has a huge mentality to go hard after balls. She credits her teammates for keeping her hyped up

Kitchens took over the game in the fourth set. When the Pioneers needed a big kill, she provided it from both the front and back row. She smacks balls hard and knows how to hit around blockers. Kitchens also had some key digs down the stretch. Kitchens does a great job transitioning from defense to offense.
