The chase for the State Championship starts with the first official day of practice on August 22nd and ends in the Yakima Valley Sundome in November. Here are some of the 2024 Outside Hitters that are geared up for a breakthrough season.
Nicole Kwatinetz
Nicole Kwatinetz
This versatile player may find her way to the sand at the next level, but the All-Metro Sound performer for Garfield will be back to lead the team in 2022. An all-around player, she has the versatility you see out of quality beach players. Very comfortable in defense, and an excellent server who served at a 96% clip last season. Offensively has all the shots needed and is clever with mixing up her speeds. If she makes a similar jump in her junior year compared to her sophomore year, a huge season awaits.
Kalle Shelby
Kalle Shelby
A 6 rotation outside hitter with an excellent feel for the game, Shelby will be a go-to attacker for the Bears of Central Valley during Greater Spokane League 4A play. She showed improved shot-making throughout the club season with Renovators, noticeably adding a hard angle swing at Nationals. Always reliable as a server, she is continuing to improve at attacking the seams, and in serve receive will cover more than her share of the court consistently.
Anna Nadal
Anna Nadal
Nadal is quick off her feet and moves with purpose in transition. Hard working and fluid, she improved over the club season spent with Excel, gaining valuable experience at USAV Nationals and other qualifiers. She will help lead Hockinson during the Greater St. Helens 2A season and will add her improving defense to the Hawks squad along with her strong attacking ability. The athletic qualities have always been obvious, look for Nadal to bring all facets of her game to the court this season.
Chloe Dixon
Chloe Dixon
Dixon is a physical, exciting presence on the outside. A dominating blocker, she rarely loses a joust and always makes the right choice on redirecting or hammering down an overpass. During the club season with Puyallup Juniors, she showed an advanced connection with her setter, varying her point of attack and not always coming at the defense exclusively from the pin. She attacked from the seam, using quick tempo, and the pipe. Its good to have a terminal hitter outside when you need a crucial point, Dixon will be the hammer for North Thuston this year.

Steady in serve receive, and able to convert tough chances when the offense breaks down, Rising should vault to the top ranks of players in the EWAC West this season. She shows a high volleyball IQ, using tips, roll shots, and a deep push to score when needed. Playing middle back for CRU during club, she showed good instincts defensively, with a willingness to get on the ground and scramble to keep points alive. Competing for Goldendale in the 2B level, Rising will be counted on to lead the way in seeking to improve a 6th place State trophy in 2021.
The high school season will kick off shortly after Labor Day in Washington, and many of the early season favorites and top players will be in action in pre-season tournaments. Elite pin hitters will emerge throughout the year and Prepdig will be there to cover the action.
