Marshalltown’s Erica Johnson is a leader for the Bobcat’s. The junior outside hitter is a solid and consistent six rotation player. Teammate Autumn Finch is a young middle with a lot of potential that will be a key player at the net this season.
Waverly-Shell Rock’s Jessica Jacobs is a game changer offensively and defensively in the front row for the Go-Hawk’s. Jacobs is a smart hitter with a heavy arm. She reads the setter well and puts up an imposing block.
Waterloo Columbus has a pair of impressive hitters in junior Avery Kroll and senior Sydney Schultz. Libero Kate Shannon played the best defense in the gym on Thursday. The senior picked up impossible digs and her serve receive was on point. The Sailor’s Emily Surma is a talented setter who runs an intelligent offense. She plays with soft hands and has great court sense.
Junior middle Katie Yi is an impact blocker for Solon who explodes vertically, shutting down her opponents on the block. Outside hitter Lauren Schrock is only a sophomore but is the top hitter for the Spartan’s, when she gets on top of the ball look out! Senior setter Rachael Nelson had some really nice jump sets and some killer serves.
