A recent transfer over from Dunes, Miss Kipp has also moved from the middle to the outside to better accommodate her skill set. Long and lean for days, Evelyn has the potential for a high attack point, and probably needs a little seasoning in the jump training area of her workouts. For now, however, you can’t teach 6′, and her length is definitely her strength when going against opposing attackers on one of the pins. You can find her on court 1 on Saturday afternoon.

In my defense, my coverage of northern Indiana is poor. If she had not come to our showcases years ago, I might not have seen her play ever. Miss Kipp is a long and lean outside that has arms longer than you would expect from an average outside. Her blocking has become more advanced since I saw her in August, and her attack is more consistent because she’s finally being put in a position where she can thrive. Her club movement from Dunes to NIVA should advance her training exponentially, and she’s already received NAIA interest.

Kipp is a six rotation outside hitter who is able to do it all. It is always amazing when you see a player who is in the top two on her team in every category statistically, with the exception of assists (but guess what…she was even 3rd in that)! What stood out to me when watching Evelyn play was her confidence and aggressive play at the net – this young lady is not afraid to swing and go after it, even on broken plays. She plays big and she plays hard, clearly being a physical leader for her team. I look forward to watching her in a couple weeks at the expo and also at NIVA Jrs. to see how she stacks up against some tougher competition.
