Jules’ gratitude:
“I have so many incredible people that have supported me along the way, including all of my coaches at Memorial High School, Coach Paul Baxter, Coach Katie Mitchell, Coach Bryan Stanfield, Coach Alex Pagan, Coach Scott Villarreal, and Coach Sergio Gonzalez. I would also love to thank my parents and sister for the time and effort they put into me and my sport. Without them I would not be where I am and they have always been with me along the way and supported me through the ups and downs. Also, my faith is very important to me, and God has given me so many wonderful blessings and opportunities. I’m so grateful and I never take it for granted.”

Jules’ advice to younger athletes chasing the same path:
“Being an athlete comes with highs and lows and it’s so important not to let the lows define who you are, instead allow them to make you stronger. Believe in yourself and advocate for your dreams and goals. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t put myself out there and overcome my fears! I’ve had to advocate for myself more times than I can count and if you don’t believe in yourself no one else will! At the end of the day this is a game and it’s meant to be fun and full of passion, enjoy it and live up these amazing moments and opportunities with your teammates because it goes by so fast!”
Jules’ voice on growth through the UA All-America experience:
“Being a part of UA All-American is a huge milestone in my athletic career and although it took years of hard work to get to this point, it has inspired me and made me hungry for more! I continue to work harder and build my skills to not only make an impact on the UA All- American court but also Baylor’s court and hopefully one day the NCAA National Championship court. I view this as only the beginning and it makes me so excited about my journey and future in my collegiate career.”

Hernandez will be in action with TAV 17 Black Jon in the 17 Open division this week. The best libero in her age group in Texas, according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, she’s a difference-maker on the backcourt and a key piece in her team’s playing system. Hernandez’s technical skills are second-to-none, but what sets her apart when working on the backcourt is her ability to read the game and react to it, which allows her to anticipate plays. The libero is a player who will make many digs every match, but, perhaps most importantly, will deliver big stops in key moments of matches.
