Key Performers from DII Regional Final Action

Gress, the team's setter, controlled the offense as she earned 38 total assists. The 5'6 senior has over 900 assists on the season and will add to her 1,581 career assists in their upcoming state semifinal match. Gress earned her fifth double-double of 2022 as she also collected 13 digs versus New Lexington.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='151959' first='Olivia' last='Schmidt'] </strong>- 2025 | Badin<br>Badin, ranked #2 in the current DII state poll, won a big match over Roger Bacon to advance to the state championship round. Schmidt led the Rams with 12 kills while hitting at a solid efficiency of .429. In the win, Schmidt provided very aggressive net play as she made things happen with her arm with good power and placement with off speed touch. Her defense helped slow down Roger Bacon's offense as she has been good in this phase this season with a career high 44 total blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='169492' first='Torre' last='Kildow']</strong> - 2023 | Union Local<br>Kildow asserted herself well in the Jets' 3-1 win over New Lexington. With a match high 25 kills, she was slowed down a bit compared to previous postseason matches. She continued with her high volume of work as she had 71 attempts which led to a .225 efficiency. Kildow has earned 159 total kills in the postseason and is averaging 7.6 kills per set. She also added nine digs in their regional final win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Grace Glover</strong> - 2024 | Badin<br>With 35 assists in the Rams' big win over Roger Bacon, Glover was a key factor in getting her offense good opportunities to score. The Rams have great strength and production in the middle and Glover utilized her middle tandem very well as the two led their team's offense as the only two hitters to reach double figure kills. Combined, they terminated 23 kills for over half of Badin's total offense. Among league leaders for total assists in the GCL Coed, Glover has a career high 638 assists for a season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='114535' first='Laney' last='Klika'] </strong>- 2023 | Gilmour Academy<br>The two-time defending DII state champs withstood a tough test versus Bishop Hartley to advance to another state championship round with a 3-1 win over the state's top-ranked DII team. Klika performed very well in the defensive phase as she picked up a team high 28 digs. She has tallied 59 total digs in their two most recent postseason wins for a 6.6 digs per set average over that span. With more competition ahead, the senior is knocking on the door of 1,600 career digs and should eclipse that number in their upcoming state semifinal appearance. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
