DIV State Championship Top Performers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Congratulations to the New Bremen Cardinals on their DIV state championship victory over Monroeville in a 3-0 sweep. Here are some of the key performers for both teams from the state round.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>New Bremen </em></strong><br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='152118' first='Olivia' last='Heitkamp']</strong> -2024<br>The junior 1st Team All-Ohio selection had a breakout season in 2022. As she had shown great potential throughout the early part of her career for both her high school and club teams, she asserted herself extremely well this season with more confidence, efficiency, and in the variety of her offensive point scoring abilities. With a match high 19 kills in the state final match, Heitkamp had 450 kills this season alone, more than double her production over her first two seasons. She saved some of her best offense for the state round as she totaled 41 kills in the semis and finals combined for a 5.8 k/s average, well above her 4.7 k/s mark for the season to the point.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='176090' first='Melina' last='Schrader']</strong> - 2025<br>Also a 1st Team All-Ohio honoree, Schrader was a consistent and stabilizing factor for New Bremen's offense. The sophomore setter had 30 assists in the state finals for a 10.0 a/s average while guiding her team to a .246 efficiency. She had 66 total assists over their final two matches to lead the Cardinals to the title while surpassing the 1,450 total assists mark for her young career.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='169515' first='Abi' last='Powers']</strong> - 2023<br>With 18 digs in the win, Powers surpassed her 14.4 digs per match average with a 6.0 d/s effort. The senior was key in helping hold Monroeville to a team hitting efficiency of .138 as she made it difficult for their offense to terminate. With nearly 750 total career digs, the senior earned the majority of those this season as she amassed 432 to close our her career. Powers was a 2nd Team All-Ohio honoree this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Monroeville</em></strong><br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='169501' first='Maddie' last='Daniel'] </strong>-2023<br>As expected, Daniel saw a high volume of offensive work as she totaled 52 opportunities off her arm, which was nearly half of the Eagles' total attempts. She provided a valiant effort earning 15 kills against a tough defense from their opponent. The senior 1st Team All-Ohio selection closes out her high school career having earned over 1,250 total kills. She had a big effort in the state semifinals as she hammered 20 kills for a 6.7 k/s average while hitting at a .378 efficiency. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Lilly White </strong>- 2023<br>The Eagles' senior libero collected a match high 20 digs in the state finals versus New Bremen. Combine that with the 33 digs she earned in the semis, she performed at a high level with a 27.5 digs per match clip. She finishes her high school career eclipsing the 1,400 digs mark over four varsity seasons with her senior campaign producing a career high effort. She was a 3rd Team All-Ohio selection this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
