There have been some amazing tournaments and great district battles. We have been talking to coaches, reading tons of stats, and getting lots of video submissions from parents and players regarding how everyone has fared over the course of the season. As we are now into the playoffs, we will be discussing some players who are being nominated for our inaugural Prep Dig California All-State Awards. Our end-of-season awards are going to be different because we are going to consider all divisions/conferences together and pick the best of the best. The Setters we will be discussing have been tearing it up and proving themselves all season long with some amazing statistics. Let’s meet some of the nominees:
Sade Ilawole Sade Ilawole 5'3" | S Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-4 Setter (HS: Sierra Canyon/Club: Mizuno Long Beach/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Ilawole is currently ranked as the 28th best overall prospect and 4th best setter in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Sierra Canyon High School and club for Mizuno Long Beach Volleyball. This high school squad is loaded with high flying huge talent and while it is easy for everyone to look at their dynamic hitters and think they are the only reason why they are so dominant, Miss Ilawole deserves some big credit. Although she might be smaller in size, this young lady can fly on the court and plays huge! She has amassed the most assists among all juniors in the state and her tally sits at 1,197. But this is just the tip of the iceberg as she also has managed to amass 45 aces, 39 kills, and also 259 digs on the year. If you watch her play for just a few minutes you can see just how athletic and dynamic she is on the court. She is one of the fastest setters in the nation. Please help us congratulate her on being named as a nominee for an All-State Award.
Grace Stone Grace Stone 5'8" | S Rio Americano | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-8 Setter (HS: Rio Americano/Club: Santa Barbara VBC/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Grace is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but is on my watch list. She plays at Rio Americano and also club for Santa Barbara volleyball club. She a solid setter who has been on our radar for a while now. This year she has tallied 1,117 assists, 85 aces, 196 digs and also added 146 kills. This kind of production all over the court is the main reason why we are so high on her. She proved herself on the court amongst her peers in the setting position. The highly skilled lefty is someone who colleges should definitely take a look at. She has long arms and uses them to both stifle the opposing serve receivers with a booming float serve and also contact the ball high as an attacker on the right side. We are very proud to have her listed as a nominee this year. She has earned it with all of her hard work. Please help us congratulate her on earning a nomination for our All-State Award.
Megan Weststeyn [2024] 6-0 Setter (HS: Ripon Christian/Club: Rage/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Megan is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She stars as a setter for Ripon Christian High School and plays club for Rage. Megan has the third most assists amongst all juniors in the entire state. She has tallied 1,115 assists and also added 35 aces, 126 digs and 41 kills on the year. She has the frame, height and technique that college coaches will fall in love with. Her leadership on the court helped lead Ripon Christian to a 35-6 overall record and a perfect 14-0 conference record. She just lead her squad to a division four state championship due to her amazing setting. The ball comes out of her hands so well to each of her attackers and she is pinpoint accurate. Please congratulate her on being named a nominee for an All-State Award.
