Club Team Preview: Iowa Rockets 16 R

Club season is right around the corner. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We'll be taking a look at some of the top teams around the state as we inch closer to live action. Let's start off with the main 16 team for the [program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets']: </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sophie Buysse, Libero</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The West Liberty High sophomore helped the Comets reach the state tournament this fall. She ranked in the Top 25 of Class 3A in digs (325) as a sophomore. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Madelyn Determan, Right Side </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Rockets reached into western Illinois for the talented Determan, who preps at Moline (IL) High. She played a key role in the Maroons reaching the Round of 16 in the state postseason. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215436' first='Dru' last='Dorsey'], Outside Hitter </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The talented sophomore celebrated a state championship with Davenport Assumption in November. She produced 177 kills, 173 digs, 16.0 blocks and 32 aces in the title run. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215435' first='Grace' last='Erwin'], Middle Blocker</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Erwin took another big step forward this season for a Solon team on the rise. She registered 169.0 blocks - the most in Class 3A - to go with 191 kills, the second most on a Spartan team that was one win away from the state tournament. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215429' first='Asta' last='Hildebrand'], Setter/Right Side</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hildebrand played a major role in Iowa City Liberty capturing the Class 5A State Championship last month. The team's main setter, the sophomore piled up 863 assists, the fourth most in 5A. She added 273 digs and 95 kills. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215434' first='Emmy' last='Mccomas'], Outside Hitter</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McComas recently completed her second season as a starter at Class 5A Iowa City High. During her sophomore campaign, she led the Little Hawks in digs (281), and ranked second in kills (210) and aces (27). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215757' first='Alyssa' last='O'Neal'], Outside Hitter</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>O'Neal joins the Rockets from [program_tooltip program_id='429000' first='Platform' last='Elite Volleyball'] out of the Quad Cities. The Bettendorf High sophomore is a good all-around athlete, competing for the Bulldogs' varsity soccer and track teams as a freshman. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215431' first='Jaden' last='Rolland'], Setter/DS</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rolland played an important role on the Mount Vernon team that reached the state tournament. She ranked third on the Mustangs in digs (211), assists (30) and aces (41). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215430' first='Yasmine' last='Sell'], Middle Blocker </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sell teams with Erwin on an intimidating Solon front row. Sell finished 5th in Class 3A with 140 blocks, fourth in solos with 52. She added 145 kills, 45 digs and 19 aces. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ale Stahle, Outside Hitter/DS</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A third member of Solon's sensational sophomore class plays on the Rockets top 16 squad. Stahle boasts excellent versatility as evidenced by her ranking among the top three Spartans in kills (189), digs (196), blocks (64.0) and aces (23). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
