MN Class of 2021 Thoughts & Preliminary Rankings: Hitters

<p>As Prep Dig staff continue to review the 2018 high school season while looking forward to what should be a very exciting club season, the class of 2021 player rankings are being prepared. Before I formally engage in that ranking process I thought I would offer my top athletes by position in the class of 2021 based upon all of the information I was able to gain over the course of the past few months. I start with attackers and consider middles, outside, and right side hitters here, a group that will rival the incredible 2019 class we just saw complete their high school careers regarding their impact, depth, and opportunities at the next level. Here are my top picks for the class of 2021.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>2021 Hitters</strong></span></p> <p><strong>1. Kenndi Orr</strong> - <em>6’0 | OH/S | Eagan<br /> </em>A Nebraska commit and class AAA 1st Team All-State selection, Orr led her Eagan team to the state championship match where they finished as runner-up. She spends ample time setting and will show up in those position rankings as well. Is also a terminator on offense as she can elevate and strike the ball with great heat and range. Her versatility is exemplified in her state tournament stats where she finished the three-match event with 62 kills, 56 assists, and 36 digs as a result of three consecutive triple-doubles. Without question, Orr is the number one player in the class of 2021.</p> <p><strong>2. [player_tooltip player_id="58016" first="Erin" last="Lamb"]</strong> - <em>6’2 | MB | Stewartville</em><br /> I consider Lamb to be the most athletic individual in the class of 2021. She is versatile in her skills and what she is capable of providing for the Tigers. Lamb helped keep her team among the top-two ranked teams in class AA all season long, which earned her a class AA 1st Team All-State nod. She can do a lot of damage both offensively and defensively. A measure of her versatility is her ability to pass in the serve receive rotation and hit middle in the same play. Also a highly regarded basketball player that is quick and can elevate.</p> <p><strong>3. [player_tooltip player_id="71941" first="Ava" last="Moes"]</strong> - <em>6’3 | RS | Lakeville South</em><br /> Moes is my vote for the heaviest arm in the class of 2021. Over the fall season she continued to grow as a trusty option for the Cougars and provided huge contributions in helping them advance to the class AAA state semifinals. She is a great competitor that can apply relentless pressure on opposing defenses with her smooth yet aggressive approach and arm. Her athleticism can lift her arm up and over the block while her strength can tool it with authority. </p> <p><strong>4. [player_tooltip player_id="58014" first="Sophie" last="Jesewitz"]</strong> - <em>6’3 | OH | Wayzata</em><br /> Jesewitz is a long and fluid pin attacker. She has great court sense that helps her to be effective on both sides of the floor. She can swing for power and adjust to score with finesse and off-speed shots when needed. She is a savvy and confident athlete. Her length and athleticism allow her to create great range defensively in the back row. </p> <p><strong>5. [player_tooltip player_id="10088" first="Kira" last="Fallert"] -</strong> <em>5’11 | OH | Concordia Academy</em><br /> Fallert led CA to the class AA state tournament after a great regular season campaign. She has good arm speed and ball control that make her very effective as a six-rotation player and leader for the Beacons. She can score from multiple attack points and in bunches for her team, which resulted in her recognition as a class AA 1st Team All-State honoree.</p> <p><strong>6. [player_tooltip player_id="57498" first="Megan" last="Reilly"]</strong> - <em>6’0 | OH | Northfield</em><br /> Reilly was part of a Raiders’ squad that featured a solid core of hitters this season, helping them complete the year as class AAA’s #9 ranked team. She is athletic and explosive with arm speed that can get the ball on you in a hurry.
