#21, Kendall Simmons (South Warren)– Senior setter from South Warren High School, we have Kendall Simmons who tallied 831 assists in 99 sets. Simmons herself was a very offensive player where she loved to dump from every angle to keep the defense on their toes. She also maintained a balance offense where her two middles had 175 and 275 kills then her outside hitters had 168 and 263 kills. With a fast tempo, Simmons was able to trick the blockers and give her hitters one on one situations. Their offense was definitely a force this year, and their successful season had a lot to do with Simmons.
#22, Amya King Amya King S Madisonville-North Hopkins | 2023 State KY (Madisonville-North Hopkins)- If you want that lightning fast setter that touches every ball, then you want senior, Amya King Amya King S Madisonville-North Hopkins | 2023 State KY from Madisonville-North Hopkins. She racked up 877 assists in 105 sets, and all of that was because of her intensity and quickness on the floor. Standing at 5’4, most coaches would see this setter as a liability in the front row, but honestly, I would have a short setter everyday that is fast, sets a tempo offense, and never fails to give it her all. King has heart and brings all of the intangibles onto the court. Helping lead her team to a district and region championship, Amya King Amya King S Madisonville-North Hopkins | 2023 State KY will leave= remembered.
#23, Mia Long (Barren County)– Adding another junior into the top 25, we have Mia Long of Barren County. Long was one of the steadiest players for Barren County where she performed every job as she was supposed to. She didn’t make the bonehead plays or set the crazy balls, but Long did what was asked and kept a smile on her face. A humble athlete, Long also excels in softball and takes these skills into her volleyball game where she leads with passion and exuberance. Totalling 708 assists in 86 sets, Long had a great junior campaign.
#24, Piper Mullinax Piper Mullinax S McCracken County | 2023 State KY (McCracken County)– Talk about a player with game… Piper Mullinax Piper Mullinax S McCracken County | 2023 State KY , senior setter from McCracken County, was a force to watch this season where she gathered 921 assists in 111 sets and added 141 digs, 87 kills, and 102 service aces. I had the chance to watch Mullinax perform in the state quarter finals, and it was a privilege to see her fly around and lead the team. You can tell that she loves the games, has a fiery attitude, and possesses the team’s respect. Plus, her out of system setting is some of the best I’ve seen in the state where she excels bump setting to target perfectly. Mullinax helped McCracken County to an outstanding year and will never be forgotten!
#25, Macy Lentz Macy Lentz 5'10" | S St. Henry | 2024 State KY (St. Henry District)– The last setter to enter the top 25 is junior, Macy Lentz Macy Lentz 5'10" | S St. Henry | 2024 State KY , from St. Henry District where she tallied 757 assists over the year in 92 sets. Lentz is an interesting player because the year before for St. Henry, she was a six rotation dominant outside hitter. Standing at 5’10, Lentz can really do it all from hitting to blocking or setting and digging. She’s the glue you need at all times no matter the position and clearly proved to be one of the top setters this year. Lentz finished her junior campaign with a double-double of 43 assists and 11 digs while adding 6 kills and 3 service aces. St. Henry lost a tough four setter to the eventual state champions. She just keeps coming back better and better!
