Class C-1 All-State Teams: Buss Racks Up the Kills, Takes Player of the Year Honors

Although just a junior, Wichita State recruit Marriah Buss of Lincoln Lutheran has already set the Class C-1 career record for kills and is likely to become the first non-Class A player in state history with more than 2,000 career kills at some point next year.

In helping lead the Warriors to a runner-up finish in Class C-1 this year, Buss finished the season with 637 kills (6.6 per set) while hitting .437 and also added 60 blocks, 306 digs and 51 aces. In her three state-tournament matches this fall, she averaged 29 kills, four blocks and 13 digs per contest.

For her performance this season, Buss has been named the Prep Dig Class C-1 Player of the Year in Nebraska.

The other finalists for the Player of the Year honor were Kyla Swanson of Wahoo, Megan Woods of Grand Island Central Catholic and Kelsie Cada of Bishop Neumann.

The Player of the Year honors as well as All-State recognition is based on nominations received from coaches and observations from Prep Dig.
