The Auburn Fieldhouse will host the top two pools of the 18 age division, here are several impact players to keep an eye on during the 1st of four total dates.
Peredo is a tremendous defensive player who has enough bounce to compete at an extremely high level as an outside hitter. She finished as the all-time kills leader for Washington High School and is one of the most athletic players pound for pound in the state. Is it possible she chooses to play libero for a big-time school? Nothing seems out of reach for this all-time performer. Her Dakine 18 team is seeded #1 overall, it will be tough to knock them off with Peredo and Hailey Brockway on the squad.
The Sudden Impact 18 Tsunami is filled with 2023 college commits. Huard is one of them and is headed to the University of Washington next fall. The 5’9 Bellevue High School outside hitter is excellent defensively and an outstanding leader who plays with passion, SIVBC 18 finished 3rd at the Matt Hartner and will look to build on their success in Eugene. Look for setter Elena Kong and middle Yasmeen Muhammed to provide scoring and further leadership for the squad.
Olivia Deckard Olivia Deckard 5’8″ | DS/L Lindbergh | 2023 State WA was one of the best players at the Matt Hartner Classic in Eugene. The ultra-athletic attacker who is headed to Oregon State provided the scoring punch PSVBA 18 Legacy needed on their run to the championship match. She is an exciting two-way player, Deckard will make an amazing dig, then hammer a kill in transition to put a game away. Setters Krista Traynor and Margaritah Banuelos run the show for this experienced, gritty team.
Young is one of the game changers for a Space Needle VF 17’s team that has put the PSR Power League on notice in the early part of the season. Now back at the outside position, she uses a powerful arm swing to terminate and blast kills off the block. She has wonderful hands, evident when she stepped in as a setter for North Creek and garnered all-league honors. That time as a full-time setter has increased her overall feel for the game, Young’s attacking over the first month of the club season has been precise and better than never. She has been driving the ball hard out of the pipe and dropping in the soft roll shot as a change of pace.
Highlights
Dakine 17 Surf has a powerful overall lineup, Brown is a consistent winner who is critical to the team’s success. She has awesome volleyball IQ and offensively can hit all the shots you want from an outside. Hard angle, line, deep corners, or off hands, she can score with anyone from either pin. She is a complete six-rotation outside who handles serve receive, plays with max effort on defense, and works hard on the block. Dakine is comfortable with her in the middle back helping to anchor a tough backline defense.
