President’s Day Event: 2024 Standouts

The Las Vegas Classic and NCVA President's Day events brought forward a few athletes to mention of their individuality.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='161296' first='Jae' last='Vass']</strong> (2024) | S | Absolute<br>There is a specific movement that [player_tooltip player_id='161296' first='Jae' last='Vass'] makes when approaching the ball to set.&nbsp; That is a gallop.&nbsp; This movement, different from deliberate steps or small adjustment steps, leaves room to be adaptable to many pass locations.&nbsp; This positively demanding setter plays defense first and is always waiting to move forward to the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='321783' first='Katelyn' last='Sicklick']</strong> (2024) |OH| Absolute<br>[player_tooltip player_id='321783' first='Katelyn' last='Sicklick'] is a straight ahead hitter that has great discipline that enables her to find a swing on seemingly every set.&nbsp; The sound of her attack is a deep, low sounding noise that indicates the ball will likely be hit to a corner.&nbsp; What is also notable with Sicklick is her transition to hit when the setter was backed up into her attack zone.<br><br><strong>Cassandra McMillan</strong> (2024) | MB | Academy Volleyball<br>In a game of micro touches that leads to a centimeter causing a change of direction in the ball, Cassandra McMillan leaves plenty of space from the net to attack.&nbsp; This gives her an excellent wrist snap.&nbsp; She takes big steps and is up in the air quickly on a middle attack.&nbsp; &nbsp;<strong><br><br>Petra Chow</strong> (2024) |L | Academy Volleyball<br>Hustling around within the court is a difficult mindset to maintain and Petra Chow does this very well.&nbsp; Even with all that hustle she yields to her teammates to perform skills.&nbsp; Technically, Chow has minimal leg movement and relies primarily on her arms to pass.&nbsp; She also shows adaptability by facing the target on a freeball and facing the sender on a hard driven ball.<br><br><strong>Vanessa Imoh</strong> (2024) | MB | Beach Cities<br>Slow to fast with an ability to accelerate is something Vanessa Imoh does great.&nbsp; Imoh takes nearly eight steps to get off the net allowing herself to really cover ground with the potential to get anywhere to be ready to hit.&nbsp; Her ability to accelerate is complemented very nicely by an aptitude to track the ball over her shoulder.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><br><strong>Danielle Fiamengo </strong>(2024) |L | Beach Cities<br>Wait, wait, go is something Danielle Fiamengo seems to work on a lot in serve receive. &nbsp;In a distinct way, Fiamengo efficiently calls the seams only on those her teammates are next to her.&nbsp; Her passing style is shoulders down that visually appears as occasionally shoveling the ball up to the net.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
