Sunshine Classic: Ohio Standouts 17s

We saw a lot of big swings and great defense from the Ohio teams that showed up at the USA Volleyball Sunshine Classic. Everyone trying to grab a bid to nationals, it was fun to see all the teams leave everything on the court. The following Ohio players stood out and made it onto the Standout list.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ohio's 17s Standouts</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='342071' first='Julia' last='Jozefov']</strong> - <em>Southwest 17N Joe</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A big middle that has quick lateral movement, giving her the ability to get to the block early and get up and over the net. She is a key part of this Southwest team and a go to player for big points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Alexis Grissett</strong> - <em>[program_tooltip program_id='431555' first='Mintonette' last='Sports'] m.72</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A very versatile setter that is able to not only set the ball but take big swings as well. She has great placement of the ball and is able to see the court, making her an asset for Mintonette. Grissett plays with high energy and is able to keep her team motivated.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Rebecca Wright</strong> - <em>Mintonette m.71</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A huge swing for Mintonette from anywhere on the court. Wright is a dynamic player that has a high ceiling and is able to put the ball on the floor with some major power. She is strong on both sides of the ball, with her big reach, she can get up and over the net putting pressure on the opposing hitters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='169511' first='Maria' last='Insana']</strong> - <em>ROCKC 17-1</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quick moving, high energetic libero that can get her feet to the ball, keeping her team in system and giving them lots of second chances to score. Great on second contact, placing the ball where her hitters can take big swings. A fun player to watch and brings big energy to the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Isabella Demers</strong> - <em>TVC 17-Black</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A major factor on this TVC team, staying low in the back row and getting under those big swings for a perfect pass to the setter. She is great on coverage and is able to keep the ball up in the air giving her team more opportunities to score.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
