From WAY up north, much closer to Chicago than Indianapolis, Lucy is an athletic marvel that can attack as well as she can set. The folks at Ball State see her as a setter, as her athleticism/set decision combination is off the charts for this or any graduating class. I’ve been high on Miss McCollum for a while—no other setter I’m familiar with can do every volleyball skill at as high a level as Lucy can. Additionally, the high school she comes from isn’t exactly known for their volleyball; Lucy’s not only paving the way for fellow teammates, but could be an absolute steal for Ball State in this graduating class.

There are no other kids on this list—heck, in this position—that are more athletic and do more for their squad than what Lucy can do at Ignite Elite. Miss McCollum is currently part of a modified 6-2, where she runs an elite-level offense in the back row while hammering away with her left hand in the front row. As far as volleyball acuity goes, she takes what the defense gives her. Hyper aware and seemingly always ready for anything, Lucy makes this game look easy—in EVERY part. A lefty setter, with an attack touch nearing ten feet that can do everything well? Sign me up.

I’m having trouble assigning a position to this young lady because of how exceptional she is at both setting AND attacking. This lefty-banger can go get the ball, with an attack touch at nearly ten feet. As a setter, her footwork is refined and smooth, her hands are high and strong, and she locates the ball (in tempo) with some of the best of them. I’d like to see if she can refine her position to one, as a better evaluation can be made once she picks. For now, however, Miss McCollum is more than capable of being a hybrid setter in a 6-2 for a smaller school that wants to save the subs by having her hit in the front row and set from the back row. I can easily see Lucinda earning triple-doubles regularly (kills, assists, digs) at the next level because of her adept nature at all skills.
